    Default too many skidsssssssssssssss

You know what I mean. Why Takara or Hasbro love their skids so much. We got reissue, re-reissue, TFC, TFE, 25th exclusive, rotf, BT/ALT..... they are just annoying and toooooooooo many.....and ugly!!

If I didn't realise any "beauty of skids", please correct me. I want lots of things more than those skids.

Why can't they flood market with star saber, chromedome, for me the green box of 25 exclusive is pointless and expensive!!!

I don't mind Skids. I'm quite sick of Optimus Prime, Megatron and Bumblebee now. Seriously... can Hasbro give us ONE series where the leaders are NOT called Optimus and Megatron?!? (-_-)

I wouldn't mind a series that is within the G1 universe but with the focus on somebody else as leader rather than Prime.

It has been done plenty of times before, its just that we have not seen it for a very long time.

I dunno, maybe there needs to be an Optimus Prime and Megatron for every generation of kids, so each series must have them. May be Hasbro's way of giving back to the community.

On topic, Skids used to be one of the rarer Autobot Cars, now he's cheap as chips and oh so common.

I wonder if you do not like Skids because he was barely in the cartoon? Comic fans have more reasons to like Skids.

Skids was one of my childhood Auobot Cars so I still have a soft spot for him (and even got the ROTF Skids coloured reissues).

It's actually Hasbro's way of maintaining their legal ownership of the names. Cos Hasbro are totally in danger of losing the rights to those names anytime soon </sarcasm>

When I was a kid my favourite G1 Decepticon leader wasn't Megatron but Scorponok (because he was ultimately a heroic Decepticon!). I also quite liked seeing Grimlock and even Perceptor taking on leadership roles. Thunderwing and Bludgeon -- nuff sed. Galvatron was just all kinds of awesome in the G1 comics and Rodimus Prime was okay (although the toy really did suck hard even in 1986)... as DrSmoov's parody said, the Matrix really should've stayed with Ultra Magnus as Prime had intended!

Still no where near as bad as Bumblebee though. But yeah, there are so many other characters they could be looking at... or just use creative imagination and give us new characters (wow!).

One cool thing about Skids and Mudflap in ROTF is that they did give us regular looking cars (hatchbacks) instead of having more high end expensive sports cars all the time. Although they do seem like flashy hatchbacks. I love how Alternity Bumblebee and Cliffjumper are Suzuki Swifts, cos being more "everyday" vehicles makes them feel more like robots in disguise to me. Almost every time I drive I see a Swift (and visually imagine it transforming! ).

    You mean like Drift?

Some new leaders would be cool, as long as they weren't the common sterotypes of ultra heroic selfless Autobot leader, and cruel and calculating Decepticon.

Comic Grimlock the vain and beligerant Autobot leader, And Rat Bat evil decpticon economist are good examples of breaking the mold.

    Scorponok too ofcourse.

I'm a big fan of Skids from G1. Sure he wasn't in the cartoon all the much; sure he was hard to get a hold of back in the 80's (being short-packed and all), but he has a lot of character and a really unique transformation.

Skids from ROTF has since given the character a bad name.

Skids is not alone in the name overuse, by any means. Starscream is probably the worst aside from Prime & Megs.

    Eagerly waiting for Masterpiece Meister
