I sometimes request sellers to ship to a different address only because I am at work most of the time and all too often the postie just leaves it on the doorstep. More often than not, they accomodate this request.
The thing is though not all ebayer's are quite as honest. Also to my knowledge Paypals protection policy only extends to confirmed Paypal addresses.

I did this once before, sending to an unconfirmed address after receiving a paypal payment, the buyer lodged an item not received against me, even though I had sent the item via registered post(and had documented proof of doing so and that it had been received and signed for), I still ended up having to issue a refund and my sold item was not returned. Paypal ruled against me due to me shipping to an unconfirmed Paypal address. Since this incident I have only shipped to confirmed addresses.

    Blackie, Cheers for the tips.

I just learnt something new... and I've been using Ebay for about 8 years. I've never had an issue shipping to an unconfirmed address, and touch wood I never have an experience like yours. I can understand now why you are hesistant to ship the item.

I'd just call eBay about it. My dad had a similar thing with a buyer whose shipping address was in Canada wanting a high-value item shipped to Israel, eBay voided the transaction and later the guy's account was deactivated.
