    Thanks Bartrim.

So in other words, I would have to connect my PS3 to the internet? I am not doing this at the moment and have been hesitant to do so. The only time I have had to upgrade my system s/w was when I bought GoW3 but the s/w came with the game. I understand that I could also use a USB to install; do you think this would work with DLC packs?

DLC packs can only be downloaded from PSN via the PS3. To date, it isn't possible to download DLC from PC yet.

But not without keeping your PS3 firmware up-to-date -> http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showpo...&postcount=450

That's not an issue if you have PS3 Slim

AFAIK, PSN also came up with a promotion to lure those offline gamers ONLINE -> http://au.playstation.com/psn/compet...o-PSN-and-win/

Kind of off-topic a little, for those that use the PSN, does it use a lot of data? The reason for my asking is that with the DSL plan I am on, I get 7 GB peak and 14 GB off-peak. Quite often, I'll get speed limited towards the end of the month. I'd love to play online, but not if that means sacrificing my internet usage.

There is always a chance that they will put the pre-order characters up as Paid DLC later, like SEGA did with Ryo's Forklift in All Stars Racing, or Soul Calibur which released the console exclusive characters on both systems a while after release.

Browsing the PSN is like the same as browsing the internet on your PC.

Playing games on the PSN however depends on which games you are playing online. Most games is about 20mb/hour. COD4 I heard is about 50mb/hour.

Some of the game demos on PSN will take a fair chunk of data allowance. You will know those games when you start downloading and it would show you how long/many gigs left to go.

PS Home can be quite heavy on data allowance as well. Vidzone (PS3 music app) takes roughly (maybe abit more) than Youtube.

If you are connecting to PSN, Uncharted 2 (once you have done ALL the updates (think it was around 150mb)), is smooth when you are in the game, however game-matching can take a couple of minutes.

7G/14G data allowance would be OK but if you are a heavy downloader, you may want to reconsider upgrading the plan to the next level.
