I may regret asking this, but why?

Why don't I collect unlicensed toys? Because any toy that isn't manufactured under licence by Hasbro Inc. or TakaraTOMY Co., Ltd is not officially part of the Transformers brand -- and to quote 5FDP, "I collect Transformers." There are other deeper (and more controversial) issues too, which was already discussed at length here.

What about add ons ie for superion that only consist of parts and not ip infringing items. Or Things like steelcore?

I don't collect them either, but I certainly don't object to them like I do with the full action figures. Reasons include:
+ They're expensive for what they are. I know that it's because of their small production runs, but I'm not willing to splash out on accessories.
+ I can't find them in brick and mortar stores (online shopping is mostly an alien concept to me )
...if I could find them in local stores (even specialty import stores) at cheap prices, then I'd reconsider.
