I don't think it's a case of being ignorant to assume that any release of a mould will be its last but rather 'playing it safe' because moulds do have a lifecycle which comes to an end.
Some that do play it safe get it wrong on occasion. It's a risk we all take when collecting - do you hold off buying a particular toy and run the risk of paying inflated prices on the second-hand market, or do you buy what's available now and hopefully be satisfied with what you have.
I see the point you are making and while I don't necessarily agree, this doesn't make your point in any way invalid because it's what you believe and who am I to tell you you're wrong
