I'm curious as to why you included Fight Club and Tropic Thunder? Great movies but does it matter how good of quality it is to watch it?

both are very visaul films in thier own way, Tropic has large set peices on par with any real action film and the jungle setting is perfect for HD. Fight Club is an incredibly viseral film and visuals go a long way on selling that, IMO a good blu-ray film doesn't need to be a GC toon or action jackson, but how the visuals aid in story telling

detail is heightened (especially in regards to textures and fabric - Norton and Pitt's dilapidated mansion never looked so gloriously grimy), and there are no instances of artificial sharpening or DNR.

Fincher is great at visuals and blu-ray helps sell his vision far greater than SD formats ever could.

Dont bother getting TF The movie (cartoon from 1986), I dont think you will see improvement compared to normal DVD. But I stand corrected.

I see a lot of remakes into DVD and Blu-Ray and they are pretty woeful.

Whilst its good to have a BD player, are you hooked up with a 1080p TV and a decent surround sound system?

Actually I would agree with you on Planet Earth. Seeing earths beauty in all its glory is worth it and all in the comfort of your own living room. I think I just sold the idea on myself lol

You mean you 'stand to be corrected'? Ok...correction coming up. There's a massive improvement from DVD to Blu-ray. I have both. The colours are so rich and bright on the Blu-ray it feels like a different movie. Well worth getting.
