For some reason I thought the costumes were photoshopped on to the people, especially fat Xaaron, his costume seems to "float" and seem brighter than the rest of the photos, making me think it was superimposed on the fella.

The rocket would be fine, just have to make it with a firing mechanism

Or use a cardboard tube - that's what I used for the fusion cannon for my Megatron cosplay. Just gotta work out a way to attach it to your shoulder. Alternatively you could go for a non-G1 version of Mirage if you don't want to bother with the missile launcher (e.g. Machine Wars, Robot Masters, Classics/Henkei etc.)
