    Default Display Case Thread

So, last week three model ship display cases arrived from Hong Kong. Their mission - to display my growing 3 3/4 inch action figure collection.
I had tried using some business card holders in the past (see http://www.tfnzboard.transformersnew...142304#p142304) but wasnt happy with them.

As I had less Star Wars figures, I tried starting with them and this is the result

Again, not 100% happy, but its more to do with my requirement to use bluetak to hold up the figures in the display stand while I search for display stands.
I also have an issue with the case - there are two clips on the clear plastic that hook into the black base. On all three one of these clips refuses to let go without a massive fight and so changing the figures inside is going to be rather hard.

Why not get a case custom made? I had one made from Adelaide Plastics here in Adelaide, you just give them the detentions you want and they make it out of Perspex.

Heres the one they made for my 1/6 Metal Gear Solid Snake figures (took about 2 days to make)

And another one for my 1:1 Scale Brandon Lee / The Crow

Very nice display cases. I've thought about buying some as well but never got around to it. I wasn't actually looking for display cases but rather cheaper plastic fish tanks. I've seen a few collections using these and they look great.

Nice cases! I've tried contacting some places in Sydney to do custom work but the prices they charge put me off.

I'm looking for clear plastic cases for some of my TF boxes. Like the ones you see that are AFA graded. I hate the shelf wear & damage to the boxes every time i move them around the house.

    Indicative prices would be helpful.

    Any assistance is much appreciated.

I meant AFA style plastic cases, not display cabinets.

Good luck with selling your display cabinets.

AFA sell their cases on eBay. I've bought a couple - one for a G1 Megatron box and another for a G1 Scrapper MOSC. Megs was about $50 from memory (and another $50 for shipping), however this was several years ago now. It fits like a glove as one would expect. IIRC the eBay ID is cgcases or something similar.

As 5FDP mentioned, AFA sells cases. In addition to eBay, they also have their own site. Their webform is user-friendly and will inform you of the cost if you need to customise a case when no in-stock case is suitable for your toy.
Prices are reasonable, between AUD $25-$40 for a custom case, from my previous purchases. Custom cases are made exactly to customer specifications, and as long as you measure the dimensions correctly, the case should fit your toy box like a glove.

One word of warning - shipping to Oz is very expensive, and IIRC I paid as much for the cases to be shipped as for the cases themselves.
