    Default Pretendaaaah!

Recently we all got excited with ROTF Bludgeon and a lot of us are now eagerly awaiting the new Thunderwing toy; as much as I really like the homage, I'd like to see some Pretender-inspired toys based on the inner robots rather than just the shell (which isn't the real Pretender... imagine if they made a Bumblebee toy with the robot mode based on his Pretender shell ). I know the 1988 Pretenders had uninspiring anorexic inner robots, but the 1989 Pretender robots were pretty decent; and it's the 1989 Pretenders that we've seen remakes of (I don't think we're likely to see a reimagining of Gunrunner anytime soon. )

Skullgrin is kinda. He's mostly an homage to the inner bot, but with the skull from the outer shell. OK, so he's just a repaint, but I think that was what they were going for with the tank mode.

PS. Would love a better homage to Skullgrin's original inner bot (at least the alt mode),as the dual-laser thingy tank-mode has potential to look very cool.

Anyway, do you have any pics of the '89 pretender inner bot modes. I'm too busy (read: lazy) to search, and when I think of inner pretender bots, I can only clearly remember the likes of Skullgrin, Bomburst, Landmine, etc etc which are all incredibly boring.

Is Snarler an '89 pretender? He would be something different to throw into the current line.

I wish they'd simply focus on other things besides Pretenders. I never liked the concept.

No, I didn't like it either, but the new re-imagining of it doesn't involve a shell - so I'm quite happy that we're getting the new versions of some of the more interesting pretenders (like Bludgeon and Thunderwing).

Pretender bots would be nice, but I'd rather Has/Tak do some headmaster/targetmasters in the vein of classics.

Universe Cyclonus' nightstick was a step in the right direction- but after bay movie engineering - i'd hope that the moulds would be more refined than g1 headmasters. By that I mean imagine a current voyager sized tf with a headmaster head that doesn't look too blocky or out of place and looks good.

And yes my agenda is a re-do of Fort Max- although that is 99.9% not going to happen at this rate. And even if done, probably wouldn't live up to expectations.
