Before the Euro and G2 days, the original Gen 1 toyline was pretty good at avoiding name double ups (lets pretend we don't notice the two Autobots called Sky High).

Perhaps you can define a little more what you're looking for also, such as:
    1. Including Humans, Pets, Aliens or just Cybertronians?
    2. Cartoon, Comic/Written, Other Media, Figure based or all of the above?
    1. just tfs pets u mean like sky lynx, ravage et al? yes those otherwise no
    2. everything!!!

thinking more about it, earth and cybertron are similar sizes, how many humans are on earth? true to say same could be said for how many tfs on cybertron?? alot.

Sky Shadow: Thanks for point out the double ups with Swoop and Bristleback - those were just plain mistakes. The others are double ups because this list is a count of G1 toys, but yeah, if you just want to count "characters" then one would need to remove different incarnations of the same character. Thundercracker appears twice because there's 1984 Thundercracker and 1991 Action Master "Sexy Colours" Thundercracker But I do appreciate those corrections, because this list was something I personally made to keep track of how complete my own G1 collection is - and obviously needless repeats will throw my numbers off.
