For the price we pay, you'd think there would be SOME die cast on these things.
    Looks fine though.
Binaltech days are over. To me those were the best quality toys they brought to us.

Chip easy? Im not sure what you are doing with your die cast figures but it doesnt chip easy.
Besides they can do what so many other companies do and use it internally. Give the figure some heft. I have never had a chipped diecast figure.

I'm with you, VGMStudios. IMO Binaltech gave us much better value for money than MP cars, which is why I prefer to pre-order my MP cars to get discounted price. Unfortunately the local Hasbro price has proven to be about double the preordered Japanese price! And it's not just the die-cast metal, but also level of engineering, design etc. Binaltech just gives you so much more bang for your buck compared to these MP cars.

Having said that, I think that the MP cars are worth paying pre-ordered discount prices for. They still give reasonably decent value considering that they cost approx. the same as say a full priced Voyager figure. $50-60 for an MP car is still infinitely better value than $49 for Age of Extinction Galvatron!

Trent: Only BT-1 is highly prone to paint chipping. Takara did take note and improved the paint on subsequent BTs, making them far more chip-resistant. I once dropped my BT Dead End on a footpath while walking and playing with it at the same time. Not a scratch! My heart did stop for a minute though.

The only bt that mine chipped badly was sideswipe viper where his bonnet gets scraped against . This is where the plastic versioned performed better as the colour was almost identical.

Smokescreen didn't scratch as much I felt.

To me the BT series are one of the most collectible series not just based on the quality was used but the type of modern age cars used to represent.
It brought back enough interest for me to look at transformers toys again.

I'd say we'd be more likely to get more Alternity, although they're inferior value compared to BT
