That pic there reminds me of the Lion King for some reason.

Actually, it's more like Jungle Emperor (more commonly known in Anglophone markets as "Kimba The White Lion"), which is a manga/animé story created by Tezuka Osamu (creator of Mighty Atom (Astroboy)) that Disney ripped off to make Lion King (despite Disney's claim that it's an original story, *cough.cough*).

Coincidence or plagiarism?



In the Lion King, the Simba's father Mufasa) is killed by a plan set up by his brother Scar. In Jungle Emperor, the equivalent character (Panja or "Caesar" in the English version) is killed by a hunter (Ham Egg, or "Viper Snakely" in the English version).

They also "borrowed" The Lion Sleeps Tonight from the original writers without telling them. And they thought they could get away from it because it was from Africa. HA!

Actually the story is a thinly veiled rip-off of Hamlet. It should also be noted that Simba means lion in Swahili, so the naming could be coincidence, I doubt it though.

Apparently the development team behind the Lion King were under the impression that they were working on a homage to Kimba the entire time and were shocked when Disney began denying any association to Kimba and selling the film as a 'first original disney story'
