The new Transformers comic series from IDW will have a reprint of issue one, to be released in June... because it had sold out to retailers.
That could be good news, but the first issue had ordering incentives, and always sells more to a new audience.

Issue 7 should be out this week, and a mirrored preview can be seen here.

Also note - there should be a free Trading Card Game booster pack with issue 7, as it is printed on the front cover, so should apply for non-American stock. But be aware that it should be series 1 booster packs.

I think it is a great cross-promotional idea, to maybe get more people onto the TCG... but being Series 1 packs suggests a lot of unsold stock, on the eve of Series 3 being released. Maybe the time between each series is too close, as stores aren't selling out fast enough. But I think the more dedicated TCG collectors/players would be purchasing master cartons within days of its release, and they would probably be saying that the gap between series is too long (as they'd have all or most cards within a week, and then have to wait a few months for new cards to come out).
If IDW had a more tacky freebie with their comic, like those cheap Chinese toys you see with the kids magazines at the supermarkets, then yes, I'd be thinking the same thing about it not looking good.

In Australia, WOTC gave out a LOT of free cards for Series 1 (at a number of schools and with two different kids magazines), but would a single free "common" card really inspire anyone to buy into the TCG if they weren't already... considering the huge expense required to get most or all of the cards? It would certainly be a lot more money than the kids those free cards were aimed at, would have to be able to buy enough cards to have a decent collection.

I think the first Ghostbusters/TFs comic issue came out last week... while we were offline.

Actually, it looks like it came out today, which means it was a week late. We now get to see the full combined cover image, with the SDCC Ghostbusters Optimus being the hidden figure in the middle.

Issue 8 will also have a free TCG booster pack included... also from series 1.
