Robot Mode
An ok version of Vortex. The colours are good and they have done the head very well. They have moved the majority of the yellow from his chest to his missiles which is only so so. The missiles built into the wrists rather than the big gatling guns hanging off the ends works better than the G1 toy. A shame about the helicopter tail sticking up over his back, reminds you that this is an Alpha Bravo remould.




Vehicle Mode
A nice helicopter but a bit more elongated than I would like, the original Vortex looked far more like an attack chopper. You can attach his rifle to the side, would have been good if you could attach it to the front. Overall good, but again it shows it’s an Alpha Bravo repaint.




Transformation
Nothing has changed from Alpha Bravo or Blades – very easy.

Overall
The FOC Vortex had more going for it in some respects, and we have seen better grey helicopter toys in the form of Blackout. This guy is still worth getting though to round out the Combaticon roster and make Bruticus.

[Tetsuwan Convoy]

I hope Vortex gets a better fix from Tak tom, along with Blastoff. The colours and the shape of the chopper on this guy just really annoy me. It doesn't say Vortex to me at all. He needs a nose mounted blasty gun, or at least a more angular cockpit. Sheesh.

I am sad.
Just goes to show that Alpha Bravo is just recolour of Vortex.

As I love the AB mold, this guy still makes me happy! The funky weird colour scheme really sets him apart, and to me he's a nice addition.
