Just playing devils advocate here - I wouldn't make it automatic on the number of posts because in my view, that would just encourage board spamming for the sake of earning higher classes without actual contribution. My 2 cents worth.

Yeah... quality over quantity. Although counting quantity is easier and less time consuming (remembering that board staff are volunteers who give up their own free time to maintain our community) So I can see merits either way.
