Default Evasion Optimus custom paint job.

I thought the Evasion mode Optimus looked very dull, so I decided to give him some paint apps to make him more movie accurate in bot mode, while retaining his G1 look in alt mode.

The only thing I was a bit disappointed with is that I think I slopped on the paint a bit thick, or added too many coats. I know that sometimes the enamels had started to dry up a bit while I was working with them under the lamp, I probably should've thinned them down a bit.

Sorry for the poor quality of pics, I used my phone camera.

Overall I'm quite happy with it though.

    Firstly, a comparison pic:

    Now for pics:

Such an improvement. Great job indeed!

Very good. All it needs now is a face plate.

Nice work. That's a huge improvement on the original.

It makes the original look like an unpainted prototype. If only it were.

Great job! It really shows what a good job the designer of the toy have done with the sculpting, only to be let down by the lack of colour apps. This has been an ongoing problem pretty much since TF Prime, which also gave us several toys that had neat sculpt details that were essentially lost in a sea of visual blandness.

Cheers guys, there's an amazing amount of detail in this mould just waiting to be brought out. I've only used flat colours, but a good dry-brushed effect would just look absolutely stunning.

It's such a shame that Hasbro didn't include more paint apps, although I understand why they didn't. Still, it's nice that they added the detail in for anyone who wants to bring the figure to life with a brush.

    Wink

That is definitely a huge improvement.
It's unfortunate that Hasbro don't put such
    effort into their paints.

Btw how does he look transformed? I'd love to
    see some comparison pics there.
