I'd say Grand Admiral Thrawn, but apparently he doesn't exist any more?

The TIE Fighter game should still be canon, even if the Zahn Trilogy is being thrown out for the new movies. (Those are the two things that made me a Star Wars fan in the first place!)

Qui Gon Jinn is my absolute favourite, his peaceful hippie ways and learning to communicate after death is what leads to the eventual destruction of Palpatine. For anyone who hasn't seen The Clone Wars Season 6 it is a must.

Ahsoka and Ventress are also up there, throw in Lando, Sabine and yep I have to put The Fett in there too.

    hmmm,
    Yoda, Chewie and Han Solo.

I actually liked the concept of Jar Jar, the first fully animated 3D character in film. A lot of new boundaries were pushed with his creation and it has followed in many movies since.
An unimportant civilian of a civilisation that had previously taken a back seat in the global politics of their home planet. highlighting that no matter how passive you may be, global crises requires your attention and participation. Also later representing that there are plenty people in positions of responsibility that perhaps shouldn't be there due to inability to understand the depth of their responsibility or the politics going on around them.

having said that he was fairly annoying and could have been handled better.
Having just watched the original Trilogy over the last few weeks I think one of the biggest faults of the new trilogy was relying too heavily on CG.

I also really liked Qui Gon Jin.
