Default Hi from an Australian in Tokyo

Hi,

I signed up about a month ago so I thought I should properly introduce myself before I post elsewhere.

As the title states, I'm an Australian that's currently based in Tokyo. As a child I grew up watching the original Transformers and found them to be really cool. Ever since then I always followed the franchise by watching Beast Wars, followed by Unicorn Trilogy, the Animated Series and of course the real life action films.

As far as collecting is concerned, I'm quiet new to it. In fact I only started last year! The first figure I bought was the MP-10 Takara Version and since then I've been collecting masterpiece figures. (So far I only have 4 though)

I have also recently started collecting the Movie Line and bit of the Legends line. I think living in Japan is great since I get to buy some really cool exclusive Takara items.

But yeah that's a bit about myself so hopefully I can get along with everyone here.

Cheers!

Welcome aboard the Board!

You are certainly uniquely placed for buying Takara product. I think there are quite a few Masterpiece reissues coming out in the next few months or revisions with slightly different colours. You should be able to get some of the older (MP12 and higher) designs for retail instead of crazy after market prices.

Welcome! I am jealous of you being in Japan as I usually prefer to buy the Takara versions.

Thank you for the welcome messages.

Yeah the advantage of living here is that you can randomly find old figures for a decent price.

The bad thing is rooms here are really small. I don't have a lot of space to put my figures!

Welcome to the board! I went to Tokyo just this April. I'll be going to Japan again next Sept-Oct, so shall we meet up in Tokyo? There are other members here living in Japan, but I think you're the only one who's living in Tokyo. At any rate, check out the Japanese Conversation Thread if you like. Nice to make your acquaintance.

I lived in Japan for 10 months. My main tip for picking up the language is to avoid using English and use Japanese as much as possible. Make friends and socialise with natives who don't speak English - and if people do try to speak English with you, either politely ask them to speak to you in Japanese, or just continue responding to them in Japanese anyway. You basically want to avoid the English language as much as possible.

I got these tips from a friend of mine who'd previously lived in France for 6 months on high school exchange and became fluent in French. It worked really well for me. I started becoming conversationally fluent after 3 months.
