All except for Sony, as they're hardwired to be region locked. Others are done via software so you can hack it via a remote control code. You can actually call the manufacturer and ask them directly. There's a thread for discussing this here

Most don't, and Blu-ray Disc coding doesn't allow for region free (ie: DVD allowed for region 0 which meant that most discs would allow playback) so you have to choose what region you set your player to. Most discs released in AU are Zone A (US) and B (AU/UK) so I generally have mine set as Zone A.

ah ok cool thanks. i guess it might come down to buying the blu ray and then perhaps using more nefarious means to actually get a watchable copy.

You can get a lovely region free bluray player from Officeworks, The Goodguys and Big W for under $100.

I have a nice Blu-Ray set top box, it hardly makes sense to spend $100 on another piece of kit to fill up the entertainment unit that I'm only going to use a few times a year.

Our unit can be unlocked but you have to take it to an authorised repair centre. if you do it in the first year of having the machine they'll apparently do it for free but I've missed that opportunity. I think it works out to be about $50.

Looks like Manga Entertainment will be handling the UK release.

I initially thought you were talking about laser disc players and I nearly fell off my chair.

Not sure if it has all the extras, but a great opportunity to get the new transfer of TF:TM on a zone B blu-ray.

I assume Amazon.co.uk will have the non-steelbook available to order in due course.

Will definitely keep an eye on this and the reviews. I've only got the Madman DVD release so a properly remastered edition would be great to add to the collection.
