Default For those who have mp-05 megatron

First, Happy New Year to all!!

For those of you that live in NSW and have mp-05, were you required police clearance/ licensing of replica firearm? (If it can get past customs I'm thinking of not going through with the hassle)

(Megs reissue is available in online stores already and I'm nabbing one).

Mine actually came through okay - before the confiscations started to happen. Having said that, I've gone throught the process of getting myself a permit, since I want to own it legally.

yeah, at this stage I would recommend getting a permit. Those of us who preordered the toy were lucky if it came through unscathed (thankfully mine did) but I know of guys who preordered and had their toys seized. 8-9 months later I'd say that the odds of the toy getting seized is considerably higher now.

I went into the SAPOL Firearms Branch the other day to check, and they told me that they are not granting collector-only licences anymore. So basically, I was told that they will not grant you a permit for an MP-05.

It is illegal to own MP05 in NSW without a permit, and it seems most other states are following suit. This is because it has been classified as a prohibited weapon (replica firearm).

The process to get a permit can be found here:

While it is a bit involved, it is not too bad.
