I dunno, I watched "How to Survive a Plague", a really good doco about AIDS activism in the 80s. 80's was pretty bad sometimes!

Oh... they do. Not literally, but figuratively, they do.

And I think that our kids are, in general, smarter than we were at their age, thanks in no small part to advances in modern paedagogy. I rarely got to present a news item when I was in primary school (I could count the number of times I got to present news from K-6 on one hand). My Kindy age daughter presents a news item once a week at her primary school, and also once a week at her Saturday school. I also craved opportunities to do creative writing, which was also something I very rarely got to do at school.

I remember StarCom, although I don't think that really took off in Australia (one of my cousins had StarCom toys, videos and books purchased overseas). And I must admit that I still have a big crush on Lynn Minmay.

That's macross not Starcom you were referring? (On minmay)
Starcom toys are everything power used with magnets and astronauts with magnetic boots.

I know what star com and macross are. I was having two separate thoughts... probably should've qualified that. Another cool thing about star com was the vehicle gimmicks which had self operating parts but didn't require batteries.

I forgot about this thread until I remembered this movie:

I haven't seen it in at least 20 years but I used to love it.

I bet it hasn't aged well

Oh man! I did an American Ninja marathon a couple of months back!

The first one hasn't aged too badly (for a cheap '80's film), nor has the second, but the third and fourth one... ouch!

But who cares if it hasn't aged well, it's still full of awesome!

I love American Ninja 2: The Confrontation.

The ninja gene. The ninjas who die at the slightest hit. The persistent ninja hanging off a truck.

Awesome guilty pleasure. Find me a blu-ray of it please.

Number two had that nice blend of action and comedy!

And I remember when Jackson pulled out his double sword (you dirty feckers!), my friends and I just went nuts!
