TFCon is on this weekend in Canada, and one of the presentations was by James Roberts, who is a writer for Transformers comics for IDW... particularly the More Than Meets The Eye comic.

He wasn't at the convention on behalf of IDW, but since he was a featured guest, he had a panel to talk about just what he is doing in the world of Transformers (not anything else from IDW).

The link also has a Dealer Room gallery, but it is all 3rd party product... which have come out in force after the BotCon exclusion this year.

I would be interested in the rough numbers at TFCon this year after the poor performance at BotCon... as it is getting almost as much coverage as BotCon on the fansites.
The interesting thing is that the TFCon (run by Transformers fans) is now pretty much a rival to BotCon (run by GIJoe fans and a singe Transformers fan). They even have a custom class and exclusive toys, with much of it having the appearance of the sort of thing you'd see at a BotCon.
If TFCon could ever compromise with Hasbro over the heavy 3rd Party presence (like keeping it a bit separate from the real Transformers in the Dealer Room and the Presentations), Hasbro were at one time keen to participate... and if they ever did got show up with presentations and displays, there would be nothing left for BotCon to boast about with their Convention.
FunPub have turned a blind arrogant eye to the fandom for long enough to cause this flocking to a fan-run alternative, and now I don't think there is any way to prevent this momentum overtaking BotCon as the fan's choice of Transformers convention. Even legal action to stop TFCon would backfire now that they have so much fandom support.
(it even had me thinking of going this year, if it wasn't too close to BotCon... but it certainly had a number of people I know choose TFCon because they only had the time or money for one)
