At least you didn't have to wait 30 min for the game to install in those days

I'd agree with that also. I never had an issue with a cartridge-based console and I owned several. What you bought is what you got. Developers were kept honest instead of releasing a game that requires numerous updates / patches.

Did memory cards ever have those problems? I liked when you could take your save file with you when you took a game to a friends house.

I hate taking a game like Smash Brothers to a friends place only to have none of the characters unlocked because I don't have my save file.

    Agreed
Most were pretty reliable (thinks back to his VMUs), although I heard that some of the PS1 cards had the occasional memory corruption issue. Not too sure if affected the whole card or just a particular save file

Borderlands finally got multiplayer working again (after GameSpy died) and I'm back into it. So clunky.

I got a custom made S-video cable for the N64. The results are great, getting the best image out of the system without extensive modification. However it doesn't work miracles, the N64 is and always will be a blurry system.

I am pretty sure you can copy save files to SD cards.
