Default TF 30th Convoy Artwork Reproduction

    http://takaratomymall.jp/special/tfart/

Starting today it seems, Takaratomy Mall is offering a reproduction print of the Convoy artwork used for Japanese G1 box art (different to the original Hasbro release, but like more recent ones ie Encore etc). It's limited to 100 pieces, and from what i can tell, it's not just a print of cleaned up artwork, it's been recreated from scratch by the original artist

    Google Translate:
    Price: 31,500 yen (tax included)
Product contents: Original framed pre-replication (commentary card pack)
    Framed size: W530mm × H450mm
Framed Specifications: wooden black frame framed
    Limitation: 100 points
Tuesday 13 am to start September 10, 2013 order accepted
Reservation receipt end: October 10, 2013 (Thursday) 13:00
Scheduled late November 2013: product shipment

Obviously a pricey item for the most dedicated of fans and only available to Japanese addresses.

Is it just me or has the artist Shin Ueda, who must be responsible for most G1 artwork never been uncovered by the western TF community before now?

TF wiki doesn't have a page on him, and none of the usual sites seem to have reported on this display of his artwork at Aomori Museum of Art, in 2010.

Not much exists even on the Japanese side of the web, but here's another report from that exhibit and another, and finally Ueda's home page, which unfortunately doesn't feature his TF artwork, but a whole load of his other work that seems oddly familiar!

This would be such a nice display piece. If only there were an easy way to get it from overseas.
