Default Toy Review - Titans Return Gnaw

    GNAW
    Series – Titans Return
    Size/class - Legends
    New/remould/redeco - New
    Wave - 3
    Released here – December 2016
    Approximate Retail Price - $20
    Approximate Size - 9cm
    Allegiance - Decepticon
    Alt-mode – Sharkticon
    Main Features/Gimmicks – N/A
Main Colours – greys, pink, blue
    Main Accessories – Ball-and-chain flail

Thoughts: A relatively basic but solid toy considering it's size and budget/price point. It's actually a much more complex toy compared to it's simple G1 counterpart (even by 1986 standards). They probably could've done more with this toy if it were a Deluxe, but the good thing about being a Legends is that the toy is more plentiful (as smaller/cheaper figures are produced in larger numbers than larger/dearer ones), which is good news for army builders and also for non-army builders. With previous Deluxe-class army-builder toys (e.g. Generations Scourge, TFPRiD Vehicon etc.), those toys were really hard for me to find because so many people were army building, making them scarce. When I went to buy Gnaw I actually found that there were more Gnaws there than Kickbacks. Anyway, I hope that everyone who's looking for this toy gets one.

P.S.: Mods, please edit the title of this thread and add "Gnaw" to the end. Thanks.

Really lacking paint apps. Especially the teeth. They need to be chrome or silver paint. Will wait and see what Tak does with this one.

I don't have him in hand yet, but his Sharkticon mode is so cute!

And I've heard a lot people complaining about the forearms being in a permanently bent position. Honestly it doesn't bother me at all. I think it's a smart design choice to reduce part counts while keeping solid support in Sharkticon mode.

The original only had grey teeth.

I am loving it. I got one at Big W which is on my desk at work. I think it looks best in shark mode. I have three more on order from Toy Bento and hoping to get another to round out the collection.

I was interested to see the green plastic for the eyes actually lines the inside of the entire head.

The chrome on mine is scuffed and may look greyish in photos, but it's definitely chrome.

Fair enough. Kind of looks like Jaws from James Bond.

First impression wasn't great, mostly down to his back basically being missing, but the robot mode has grown on me. It's very nicely detailed and looks pretty much right outside the missing or rearranged kibble. But in Sharkticon mode, he shines. A deluxe-size toy might have improved some of the simplicity, but they've done a great job with this.

    Hey Gok,

Did you see that Reprolabels has released a set that includes teeth? Each sheet comes with three sets of stickers.

I stopped following Reprolabels years ago when they switched to only accepting payments via PayPal (as I don't use it). Anyway, for a small and relatively cheap Legends figure, I think that Gnaw is fine.

There should be an option to vote for 'buying multiple'
