Default MP 10 chrome smokestack darkened

Hi all, wondering if anyone can help.

I just notice the other day that the chrome smokestack on the left arm on my Takara MP10 has a darkened patch. It is more apparent in low light.

I never noticed it before, and I don't touch that part very much. I keep my TFs in the top shelf of the wardrobe, away from light.

Do chrome parts normally have this problem?

Yes they do unfortunately it depends on the type of chrome dip they use.
Even my SOC toys with chrome parts faded.

Its dust. it sucks the life out of chrome. Only thing you can do is give it a clear coat. It will help protect it.

This is correct, but also dangerous if the clear coat decides to eat the chrome.

For me, if I was in his shoes, and it become really bad, I will remove smokestack and airbrush them with Alclad II chrome paint.

It happens on any chrome toys if the paint isn't high quality enough.
