They're both fantastic bits of plastic - definitely two of the best Transformers toys from the past couple of years.

I'm not really a fan - I like my transformers sleek and swift looking, not green and bulbous. Still, now I can say that I own all the leader class toys from a line for once.

The character style of Bulkhead certainly didn't initially appeal to me either, but the voyager's transformation from vehicle to robot when done in the right order is the most elegant and gratifying transformation I've possibly experienced.

I'm not a huge fan of the design either, but both the Voyager and Leader Class toys are neat IMO. I was more disappointed with the slow character development (or lack of) for Bulkhead in the show. (-_-)

Designwise apparently Bulkhead is based on Crunch from Mighty Orbots.

The part of the opening theme for Animated where you see Bulkhead sitting down eating (see 0:09 of this video) is a tribute to Crunch, who is does the same thing in the opening theme for Mighty Orbots (see 1:20 of this video). So I guess someone on the Animated design team must be an Orbots fan.

Btw, was it just me, but when I was a kid I always thought that Orbots' head and face looked a lot like the G1 Blaster toy\

They referenced a lot of other cartoons in Animated (Sentinel Prime as the Tick for example)
