NSW wise you basically need few things if you want to do it by the book

    1. permit to own imitation firearms in NSW

    2. then to import directly you'll need the following per border force requirements

To import imitation firearms into Australia, police certification in the form of a B709A Form - Importation of Firearms – Police Confirmation and Certification Form is required.

    3. the NSW B709 has 2 forms

    - Application Form: General Application to Import B709 for Individual or Business (Non-Dealer)
    - Ancillary Forms Form: Category A, B & C Firearms and Parts

The forms and are pretty standard and straight forward but NSW has a special requirement where a NSW licensed firearms dealer must be nominated for importation of all NSW unregistered firearms and they will need to pick up the package

Reason being while is a toy it still falls into the following imitation requirement category per NSW firearms reg

*Do I have to nominate a NSW licensed firearms dealer?
If the firearms you are importing are unregistered, you must nominate a NSW licensed firearms dealer to pick the firearm up on your behalf from Customs. In this case the B709 Certificate will be posted to the firearms dealer.

The above happened around its original release.
There were a small number that came into the country just fine (for the peeps who got them from faster shipping sites) and then when the main lots from robotkingdom etc started hitting the shores, customs picked up on the sudden rush and started seizing them. There were from memory a sizeable number of ozformers who ended up losing him to their furnace. While originally the box was the giveaway, customs started using the x-ray image of the diecast of the figure to pick up on loose figs. I think a couple of people here were able to sneak em through by unscrewing him at the waist, therefore separating his diecast section in twain.

Thats when the Megatron gun club idea came into being.

Ill see if that thread exists but it may have been on the old forum (before the late 2007 upgrade)

Do you have any recommendations for a dealer?

What a pain in the ass!

I can imagine walking into a dealer and telling them why I need their services, only to be greeted with this:

Might as well just get a real gun.

Christ, at least WAPOL gives you a temporary licence for the purpose of conveying the gun from Customs to an authorised dealer/storage.

I wonder why we don't have uniform gun laws across all States.

They can't even uniform driving laws across the state.
