On the one hand I'm impressed on a certain level at the efficiency with which they've hidden all of the actual car kibble and had it replaced with faux parts.

On the other hand my usual policy of not buying any expensive figure that makes heavy use of faux parts applies here.
I'm really just here for the free food and open bar.

Finally! I wonder how they managed to do the bonnet without it splitting.

The head is accurate to the G1 cartoon sometimes. As with many G1 characters the model varied wildly between artists and episodes (hence why some MPs have variant heads). So sometimes Sunstreaker had small head-wings...

And other times they'd be huge...

    And every size in between...

Sunstreaker never really had much consistency with size or even style of the headwings. I suspect that they went with the smaller ones because:
1/ It's accurate to the animation bible's model, and...
2/ It may be easier from an engineering/design POV (i.e. tucking/concealing a smaller head in vehicle mode).

I had a quick glance at the text and didn't notice anything about the licensing, but I suspect you're right.

The bonnet panel appears to sit on the lower lumbar/backside of the robot.

I woke up and this was all over my Insta and Twitter... Very nice to wake up to

Sunstreaker and Sideswipe are my favourite, I am glad for Sideswipe to finally get his brother.

That alt mode is almost Alternator worthy

Im not entirely sold on this compared to what I've seen of Badcube Sunsurge. I will pick it up though, and hey it might even get to me before Sunsurge does from you-know-where!

Badcude has advised that the reissue was done and dusted quite sometime back so it looks like we are taking a ride.

I think it's pretty cool with the option to have different butts :P

Would be nice if there could be a chrome / silver spoiler too

If you keep Tigertrack and get a red Sunstreaker redeco - you know they'll do one eventually, possibly/probably a police deco as well - then you'd have the purportedly planned versions as well.

Anyway, for my part I'm quite happy with my CHUG Sideswipe/Sunstreaker combo, but I'd be interested in getting/repurposing it if they do it in red. Apparently the red Diaclone pre-Sunstreaker was the first transforming robot-to-car toy ever designed so I'd quite like an homage to that for the Odieverse.

On a different note, what do people think are the chances of that dinky little gun he has being able to mimic the missiles/gun-hand thing from the G1 toy? It looks pretty similar to G1 Sunstreaker's hand-missile-blaster thingies, and depending on the transformation there could be a way of attaching it to his wrists. It seems like the kind of throwback/homage-y option TakaraTomy often likes to include in MPs IMO...
