Oooohhhh... part of me is tempted to get both, because they are different characters. But the other part of me knows that I don't have the space to keep collecting variants of big toys.

Good lord, are those ankle tilts?? A more realistic truck cab?? Better looking guns???? Taktom may have knocked it out of the park and into the next county with this one! I can't wait to see the colour version.

If the colours are good then this may well address all my issues with Hasbro one.

    I think I've found my Powermaster Prime/Ginrai.

I am laughing so hard for those who bought the one with all the holes in arms.

Yes this is certainly a big improvement.

I have the same dilemma... to have both, or just the nicer of the two... decisions, decisions!

Takes me back to Easter '88 as this was the last transformer I got as a kid, just the nostalgia alone is a seller for me!

I've been waiting for news on the Takara and have so far resisted any Hasbro preorders but might get tempted if the Hasbro has a good sale price at retail. Unfortunately or fortunately, with the way Aussie retail stores are going with TF stuff, I may not have the chance to be tempted to get both.

Now the wait for Takara preorders...

I've been having this dilemma where on one hand, Ginrai looks to be the better toy but he's not Optimus Prime (they are distinctively different characters despite appearances). Optimus Prime looks cheaper, but he's Optimus Prime -- plus he's G1 accurately cheaper looking (ever put PM Optimus Prime and G1 Ginrai side by side? ).

The simple solution would be to purchase Ginrai and repurpose him as Optimus Prime, but I wasn't sure if I could suspend that level of disbelief... until I just realised that when I was a youngin' I would frequently repurpose my PM Optimus Prime toy as Ginrai. Although my first exposure to Masterforce was via the atrocious dubs where he was called Optimus Prime and I was blissfully unaware that they were different characters, but there were times when I would play w/ my PM Optimus Prime as per his Anglophone persona (i.e. he's Optimus Prime), and other times when I would play him according to his Masterforce persona (i.e. a mindless machine controlled by a Lego figure^human). So in essence, I really was repurposing him as Ginrai anyway, just not in name. I never got Ginrai until he was reissued, and by that time I was already a post grad student (so having two separate toys was never part of my childhood). But as a kid I frequently repurposed my PM OP as Ginrai... I just didn't know his proper name at the time (but a Prime by any other name ).

Yeah... I think I'll go with Ginrai. Just gotta bite my lip and be patient when Optimus Prime comes out first. I got PM Optimus Prime in Jan 1992 whereas I didn't get Ginrai until he was reissued in Sep 2001 -- so if I could wait 9 years and 8 months for G1 Ginrai, I'm sure that I can wait a couple of months for Legends Ginrai. At least, this is what I need to keep telling myself to stave off my impatience.
