    I'd say mod was successful, now it doesn't feel scary moving the legs backwards...note trying this with the knees bent will collapse him

    Just a tad, just a tad~

    All I can say is I'm happy with the mod, provided the plastic where the springs sit doesn't decided to just eat themselves away or something crazy like that, but I do like the results and the increased range of motion

    I am no engineer and know nothing about plastics, but pressure on the plastic is evenly spaced and there are no sharp bits. At worst you will feel the ratchet engaging again so you have a warning to stop, clean it out, and start again.

    Just watched Paik4Life's review. Watching those hip ratchets getting continually adjusted through posing and transformation with great big chassis shuddering thunks. Compare that to the silky smooth movement post mod. I am glad that I did it.

    I saw this and I thought it looked really cool, but the concern for their condition after the water was scratching at the back of my mind.

    So I've finally found some time to open up trypticon..... His tail that is!

    Oh

    My

    God!

    Look at the size of this ratchet tooth!

    There is a HUGE spring for the pressure.... (Sorry bad pic)

    And here is the inside cross price for the ratchet...

    I know I know.... Crap pics... But I only have limited time for having a guy like this unscrewed

    Now the pictures are done.... Some words to go with it.

    Mine (and many others) have a huge clunk noise when the tail is moved, and then the tail doesn't hold in "dino mode".

    The clunk you would think is the ratchet.... But it's not. The cross piece that is supposed to hold the ratchet in place only has a couple of mm of grab into the ratchet. The noise is this jumping/snapping/clunking out of the ratchet piece, and the fact that there is a spring means the ratchet peices can be pushed out of the way so the tail can move.

    Not here's the kicker. One plain of the cross is uniform:

    lllllllllllllllllllll
    :::::::::::::
    OOOOOOOO

    The other plain is not: (trying a few symbols to try and say what I mean)

    iiiillllllllllllliiii
    ....::::::::::....
    __---------__

    This means that the "clunk" is this cross piece coming out of the ratchet, and when you rotate it two things:

    The tail doesn't move far enough (90 deg) to get to the other slot.
    There is a circle moulded with/around the ratchets cross (picture a circle with a cross in it) so the uniform plain can't "fall" into place as it is always touching the circle.
