If you compare the alt. modes of Generations Sky Byte and TR Gnaw, you'll notice Sky Byte turns into a shark (a design from nature) and Gnaw turns into a sharkticon (a design from the 1986 movie). Note the metallic shark is Sky Byte. I'm being specific, so I'm not focusing on factions.

Tfwiki states that Gnaw is a Sharkticon that transforms into a 'squat limbed, shark like monster'. Yes, Sky Byte still has more of a recognisable shark mode, but Gnaw does not transform into a Sharkticon.

As I said, Grimlock doesn't transform into a Dinobot, nor does Kickback transform into an Insecticon.
