Never thought I'd be saying this but it looks like this will be the first and only Thor movie I'll be buying on DVD. It really is that good.

Korg: Well, I tried to start a revolution, but didn't print enough pamphlets so hardly anyone turned up. Except for my mum and her boyfriend, who I hate. As punishment, I was forced to be in here and become a gladiator. Bit of a promotional disaster that one...”

Trailer for Gunnm aka Battle Angel Alita has just been released. I’ve been looking forward to this for years ever since James Cameron had been talking about making a live action version of it, although he gave the directors chair to Robert Rodriguez, have to say it looks promising

Love the comic, but those giant CGI eyes freak me out though.

I like that the trailer is a bit more low key. I'm skeptical of all Hollywood anime/manga adaptions but will give Rodriguez the benefit of the doubt.

I get what they are trying to go for (i.e trying to replicate the traditional anime/manga look), but you're right, its a bit hit and miss with those eyes, in some shots they work well (when Ido wipes the tear), in others the complete opposite. I think through the course of the movie it would be something they assume audiences would just get used to. Personally I think they could scale them back a little and maybe reach a happy medium.

I like the trailer though, its not one where they just show you the whole movie in 2 minutes, really sets a mood and some of the shots look artistically fabulous. I think the actions scenes should at least be epic, especially with Rodriguez at the helm (that slamming head scene looked awesome), though to be honest, this needs to be rated MA or R for it to stay true to the Anime
