    Default Australia Post and Batteries

How many of you know that if your item has batteries, it must go by road instead of air with AustPost??

Some information thought the board might like to know.

It's also worth noting (which I overheard today at the post office), that Customs appear to be screening more mail that is leaving Australia, instead of just the stuff coming into the country. So if you are vague or minimal in your 'contents description' on the customs declaration label, and they xray it to see something that isn't declared, it can be returned for you to fix and repost.
I saw one today at the post office that was returned that was being sent to China, and the guy hadn't declared some chocolate inside (the scan would have shown organic matter that wasn't declared).

Just something to think about if you post something overseas in future - write down every little item, not just a grouping of similar items. (or just ask the post office person for clarification when posting something)
