I have almost 60 Transformers, have only started collecting since a few months before the first movie came out. I love the movie stuff but also enjoy the generations lines.
I am like some of the others in this thread, that is I am selective for two reasons: the first is that I can't justify buying a figure that to me doesn't look cool. For me to be interested it has to have a decent robot and alt mode. The second reason is financial, it can be an expensive hobby especially when whole new lines are released and you just want them all NOW. It can also be hard to get past the keeper (wife). I grew up with Transformers, had plenty when I was a kid, disappointingly they all got given away against our will. When I first started collecting it was exciting, then once the first movie was released I was hooked. It's quite addictive but I enjoy the engineering and thought that is put into the figures these days, but even more so I enjoy the articulation and posability. I love the challenge of working them out first time out of the box. Then again when I decide to transform them all every couple of months later. It won't be long until I crack the 100 mark at this rate. I always have my eyes out for when the new toys are released and follow some other transformer fan/news sites for updates. If there is a figure I'm not sure about I usually check the youtube toy reviews to see if it's enough to push me over the fence either way. I'm relatively new to this site and forum posting in general however this is a fantastic source of information as well as a place to chat to fellow collectors. I've attached a pic of my collection to date (if I've done it right), I think I'm going to have to find more shelf room very soon... I look forward to talking with you in various forums. |

That is a sweet collection AJ and welcome to OZformers mate.
![]() ![]() Man those are some really nice glass display cases, something I wish I could do with my own collection would be to try and get them all behind glass but shelf space and finances prevent from achieving that at the moment. ![]() I agree with your approach in that a figure has to have a good Bot and Alt mode, as I've often skipped figures purely because of a failure of either one of those conditions and price can be somewhat preventative too. ![]() Whilst I don't collect the Movie figures all too much, the above criteria definitely led me to the purchase of ROTF Scout Skystalker and ROTF Voyager Mindwipe as I thought both of those figures had truly awesome Bot and Alt modes but also the pair are capable of being combined! ![]() The same goes for ROTF Leader Jetfire and I'm curious - How'd you find his Transformation from Bot to Alt mode?

Thanks Hursticon! The display cases have a two fold function:
1. It's a nice place to store them to minimise the dust they attract whilst allowing easy viewing. 2. It keeps the kids out. Had to install showcase locks on them because the oldest one has figured out how to open them... Re: ROTF Jetfire - I only bought the legends class of this one, because the alt mode didn't do it for me. Despite the fact he could combine with Leader OP and had a nice bot mode, the kibble was a put off enough for me to leave him on the shelf. Having said that, Leader SS had some kibble too but it was still neat enough for me to add him to the collection. Re: Mindwipe and Skystalker - I agree with you they both modes were well designed and combination factor was definitely a selling point for me too. Finances are definitely an obstacle, other things I find frustrating are when certain figures are either sold in only some states or not in Oz at all. And although I've done it on a few occassions, purchasing through Ebay is usually slightly or much more expensive than what the item would sell for here. Thanks for the welcome, so far everyone here has been very friendly and helpful. How long have you been collecting for? |

Myself?, Umm... I'd say that I officially considered it 'collecting' back in '05-'06, I've got 1 figure that I've owned for a hell of a long time that I actually lost for 14 years but that's a story in it's self.
![]() I've had a lot of help from my close mate 1AZRAEL1 over the years and only joined up here a little over a year ago, so between the Member's Sales here and online venues, such as eBay and RobotKingdom, My collecting has somewhat flourished... Quite expensively.

Ditto! Just looked at yours, that's sweet! But I have to ask, how hard is it to leave the boxed ones in the boxes? Do you ever get tempted to open them?
Also I didn't mention the non-figurine portion of my collection, Transformers Chess set, Monopoly, as well as all movie TF games on PS2 & 3 plus War for Cybertron. And of course the G1 set of 80's cartoons plus the G1 movie on DVD as well as the 2 Bayformer movies so far... They're so addictive! Someone mentioned plastic crack. Hit the nail on the head there... |

You've also reminded me that I need to update it cause it's been about 6 months. For me, it's not that hard to resist temptation because I collect for the packaging as much as for the toys and unlike some collectors, I don't sit down and play with them. Goki would describe me as a 'curator'

I will get my small collection photographed & uploaded this weekend. I only have around 30 but I have been collecting for about 8 weeks so far.
Quite a expensive hobby I have to say. |
