Snarf is your typical sidekick character, like a combination of Orko, Cringer and Wheelie. and that wierd thing from Jettsons.
I was never that big a Thundercats fan, not quite sure why, something about the show didn't work for me, always prefered the Silverhawks myself. Not sure about this new series or toys, though that Thunder Tank does look nice, but I don't trust modern toy companies making vehicles they always make them to simple with lame sound gimmicks.

I have just watched this. First two episodes were released yesterday.
I went in with a neutral mindset just to see if it was any good. Although the 'anime' animation felt a bit odd at first (specially with Snarf, Kit and Kat), the story was incredibly good. It was certainly much much better than I would have imagined it to be. The animation in general was pretty good with the exception of the character models I mentioned and the story wasn't just uninspired cliche 'meh' like it is with TF:Prime. It was actually pretty damn good with a lot of character depth and some bold but positive changes to the Thundercats lore. What I liked: - The whole 'classical age' inspired world in which technology is but a myth. - Thunderans are not just 'good cat people' but were also arrogant and imperialistic oppressing or intimidating other races in 3rd Earth. - Thunderan society is portrayed as very human with both the bad and good. - Well thought out story line that establishes the premise of the series very well. - Writers are putting some seeds, they appear willing to do some world building in their writing unlike in TF Prime. - The Lizards are not just a typical cartoon 'evil race'. They have some gray areas with hints that some may even be good or at least have good conscience. - Previously 'plain' characters have been totally re-written such as Tigra. - Awesome animation with the mechs. - Snarf doesn't talk! - I can go on. What I didn't like: - Cutesy character animation such as Wily-Kity and Wily-Kat. - Don't care much about Snarf's cutesy design either but I am so glad he doesn't talk and is just a pet. - Weird anime moments like when Jaga and his clerics were running like the flash. - Mum-Ra was a little too odd. Not really scary, just funny looking. The positives considerably outweigh the negatives and I really enjoyed this show. I can't wait to watch the next episode - When is it out? |

Intriguing. I may have to watch these when I get the chance. Never watched the original cartoons.
