Myer toy sale 18 Sept - 12 Oct
Oct 06, 2014 - 3:37 PM - by griffin
Another sale catalogue I missed... this one from Myer doesn't have much on Transformers, but their website has a few extra items that are maybe running out of in most stores, so didn't want to have them in the catalogue to tease people.

The catalogue can be found here.

Items in the catalogue...

Reject Shop catalogue from 25th Sept
Oct 06, 2014 - 2:50 PM - by griffin
(I didn't realise this hadn't been posted as news yet)

The Reject Shop has received more discounted stock from Hasbro, and featured it in last week's catalogue. The catalogue says from September 25th until stocks last, but some stores didn't have them in until a week later.

Beast Hunters Bumblebee with Energon Drill $20 - not released in Australia before.

Construct-Bots Elite $15 - usually $25-30 here.

Not in the catalogue, but being found... [Read More]

TFCon 2014 in Chicago October
Oct 05, 2014 - 5:00 PM - by griffin
As BotCon is becoming more commercialised and less fan-friendly by the owners, and since there is less interest in it by fans down-under, I thought I might feature a few of the larger fan-run conventions in future.
(after all, BotCon was once fan-run before it became "the official convention", and some of these other ones have become quite significant and popular following the "burn bridges" policy of FunPub's owners to its past members and potential attendees)

Toy updates from Hasbro Australia
Oct 03, 2014 - 1:38 PM - by griffin
It has been a couple months since I last asked Hasbro Australia for updates (because I don't want to bug them too often), and here are the answers I got.
So, thanks to Hasbro for giving us fans some advance warning on a number of items here.

Black lettering is from me, green lettering is from them.

KREO TF 'Takes Us Through the Movies'
Oct 02, 2014 - 7:43 AM - by SkyWarp91
So the official Transformers page on Youtube just released this skit from KREO about the Transformers Film History and I gotta say this is pretty funny and it seems whoever wrote it is quite self-aware of how infamous the movies' storylines are.

Peter Cullen and Optimus Prime at the Hollywood Chinese Theater
Oct 01, 2014 - 10:21 PM - by griffin
The Chinese Theater (Grumans) in Hollywood is famous for having hand prints and autographs in the cement out the front... and now Peter Cullen and Optimus Prime have joined the select few there.

In the past it was movies that screened their premiere there that earned its stars the opportunity to be... [Read More]

2014 Generations toys might be coming here
Sep 29, 2014 - 3:01 PM - by GoktimusPrime
After multiple attempts at contacting Hasbro, I finally got a response. My question was when we would see the Transformers Generations 30th anniversary toys in Australia. I just received a call back and said that they should be in stores by mid October. I asked again if this was about Transformers Generations 30th Anniversary, and I was told yes. I asked for any names of figures that we could expect from the first shipment, but the person that I spoke to told me that she didn't... [Read More]

Z-Knight Optimus Prime
Sep 28, 2014 - 3:13 PM - by Sky Shadow
The new Kotobukiya HMM Z-Knight kit in Optimus Prime colours. Image from Autobase Aichi/Nakas.

I don't know if this is being released or just for fun, but it would be cool if there were some more Transformers/Zoids crossovers in TakaraTomy's future.

October JP retail incentive items
Sep 25, 2014 - 1:14 PM - by griffin
There have been quite a few retailer incentive items in Japan in the last year, and October has another set.
This time they are weapons, and many of us in western markets will recognise them as Beast Hunters weapons - which Japan didn't get with their Arms Micron/GO toys.
