Just bunged it in now. Hmm, PS3 has a 147mb update waiting already. I hope it doen't need to install for 20 minutes like WFC...

*edit* Well, look at that, only 11 minutes install. Plus the 6 to dl the update. Don't really feel like playing it right now. Oh well:D

hmmm that ain't a great start is it.

I've not been on my xbox360 for a while, but I wanna look for a demo cause reports are that the game is fun, but doesn't last very long.

Its very much just a cut down version of WFC without the cool Space modes and set on Earth. The Stealth force modes give extra movement, firepower and armour. I haven't bothered with the robot mode much in battle, even in tight spaces (where SF mode is apparently limited) as you can just blast away with the big guns.

Nice character models I have to say. Graphics are nice, but the detail update flicks in all the time, even if you just turn around on the spot. I think the game's biggest flaws are all due to lack of development time.

It's an average game. Not really bad, but not realy good either.

For those of you who have played it (specificly the ps3 version) what characters are in it, and what characters are playable?

UP to level 3 and have to say that I am quite enjoying it. Each level you are stcuk with a particular character, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Mirage are the ones I have used so far.

Aside from Bumblebee's level (being an 'average' skilled jack of all trades) the levels are made to suite the character.

Ironhide's level has you taking on heaps of 'cons and letting rip with his impressive aresenal (which I enjoyed the most to be honest. Some of his weapons... :D) and Mirage's level focusses on using his stealth mode and snaeking through the level. So it is designed quite well, just limited by development methinks.

Hmmmm, Just went to take it online for some MP action, and discovered that the 'DOTM servers were down.' That sounded familiar...

A log out of the PSN and back in again, lo and behold it worked. *sigh* Don't tell me I have to put up with that crap again...

The MP bot characterisation is just the same as WFC as well.. Choose a chassis and then select 2 boring colours. Sad face. Hopefully they change this to allow for more customisation in WFC2. you can make Megatron nice and PINK though:p

How much would you say this is worth?

Full price?
$50?
Bargain Bin?
Rental?

(feel free to throw in your own scale)

I would go for 40-50 mark I think. Definitely not the Australian Full price.

TBH, I am not terribly far into the story as yet. Only up to level 3

$20 in the bargain bin. Waaaay too short and repetitive single player. No real storyline either, doesn't compliment the movie in any meaningful way, besides showing how Shockwave broke out of ice jail so he could go do sweet F-A at Chernobyl and Chicago.

The 'Straosphere' and 'Warpath' battles in particular were quite poor.

I actually enjoyed the ROTF game a lot more than this.

All up it felt like an amatuer mod of WFC that got knocked up over a few weekends, really hope these guys can make WFC2 as good as the first, it'd be a shame if it turned out to be a fluke :(

The absence of Escalation on this game will keep the interest in WFC alive until WFC2 next year.

I thought it might be good change to have a movie game that didn't just follow the plot of the movie, but after seeing the carnage in the movie, I'd rather play out that, than play out events in a prequel that probably cant do much with the iconic characters in the movie itself. I want to fly through the city as jetwing optimus and shoot and slice Decepticons.

That's a lie Griff! You want to find out how Optimus got his trailer and do numerous search missions to gather weaponry for it. That, and building a spaceship with the wreckers, a few more fetch quests.

Also, you get to do the awesome mission of fixing up the pyramids and cleaning up dead 'con parts after ROTF.

Damn, I would be the worst game designer :P

That could make a fun cute gameboy RPG, like a Zelda rip-off with Prime as link.

I agree. It's really only worth a rental, or $20 in th bargain bin in 12 months time...by which time no one will be playing the online anyways.

WFC has permanent 4X experience points too now IIRC, so hopefully that community will keep going till WFC2. Here's hoping we get to see some more big boss battles, like Devastator, Menasor, etc...

And have the chance for the two leaders to actually face off this time (which bugged me the most in WFC).

The WFC servers are still on? I've tried at least 10 times to get on over the past few weeks and not once have I been able to.

If you are on PS3 (IIRC you are) then you will need to log out of PSN and back in again after booting the game. It's annoying and hasn't been fixed with DOTM.

Yeah, what he said - when at the Escalation or Multiplayer screen and it tells you the server is unavailable, press the PS button to log out and log back into the PSNetwork. When you press to PS button again to go back to the game, it will proceed to the next menu after a few seconds.

haha, you remind me of my friend who wanted to make an rpg that was "as real as possible" so when the main character caught a flight to japan you wouldnt be able to leave the plane untill 8 hours of gameplay have passed, and when exploring a forrest it could take days of walking in one direction to find your way out ... needless to say we didnt make said rpg

Ah, good to know. :) Still need to get that one last trophy - the Wave 15 one.

I've been on a fair few days lately to play, but I see you're only on like once a month.
I want to help you out, as I can now work my way through all Escalation maps on my own except Remnant. That's one I can't seem to get past wave 4. The others I can get to between wave 10-14... and usually die from getting bored (less focused) because it takes about 2 hours to get to that point.

Hmmm, Just finished DOTM today. Over already? you get to play as Bumblebee, Ironhide, Mirage, Soundwave and Laserbeak, Starscream and Megaton (in ROTF form but not able to Transform and then truck mode). Finally you play Optimus as you take on Shockwave.

Then jumped online and got slayed by some dude at level 20 using Megatron's life suck skill constantly. It wasn't fun.

Don't really have any inclination to play it again. It would be more fun if you could use other Transformers in any level, but you are stuck with a specific bot for specific levels. Ironhide and Megatron were fun, mainly because they could really take a beating and dish one out as well. Ironhide had cool weapons as well.

Still I think this might be worth a weekend rent but that's about it. I will go back to WFC from now on methinks. On to my TF game collection shelf now.

Decent game, bought it for $62 from Big W so can't complain.

Single Player was surprisingly fun, especially Mirage/Ironhide/Soundwave/Megatron's levels.

MP feels identical to WFC, which isn't a bad thing I guess. It seems really easy to hit level 20 though. It sucks Shockwave can't transform, his bot mode is pretty powerful but even with leg servos (which are a must for him) he still is ridiculously slow!

A bit disappointed in the lack of extras, ROTF had all those G1 episodes, wish they had done something similar with this.
