Looks like more than just toys are being reissued in Japan soon.
The original series of Gen1 in Japan is up for pre-order (http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/fight-super-robot-lifeform-transformers-reissued-on-dvd-in-japan/23062/) on some JP online stores, and it looks like it covers everything they had screened there (the first three seasons).
The 3 5-DVD sets are priced at $90-120 each, and scheduled for a January 25th release.

The price may seen high, but that's considered about right for Japan... but for those who speak Japanese, this would be a novel addition to your TFs DVD collection.

And if they decide to add english subtitles, it'd have even more people interested (like me), just to hear all the different voices the Japanese fans grew up on.

I already have all of Japanese G1 on discs... but great news for anyone who may not (and who are willing to pay the prices for them -- JP DVDs are indeed quite dear). Back at the SMASH! 2009 convention we screened some episodes of "Fight! Super Robot Life Transformers!" (on kup's laptop) -- I remember showing one of the guys from Madman and one thing that he immediately noticed was that they call the blue cassette robot "Frenzy" -- he thought it was pretty cool how they "corrected" the 'mistake' from the original Anglophone version. ;) :)
