I thought it be nice to have a Chogokin page.
This is where Soul of Chogokin, Super robots chogokin, Godaikin old school,
Metal builds (non gundam) and all other Diecast metal toy robots worth mentioning to be discussed or sell your items.

Now I know Macross are also partially chogokin and so is Gundam FIX and Metal build, however it would be better if those selected categories be posted there.

$50 each for the SRC's ... toys themselves are as new, the boxes are about 85% new.

$300 for the SoC. That's a bit less than what i paid for it last year... the box is about 75%, and the toy's perfect, other than one shoulder joint which is a bit loose (seems to be QC rather than age).

Tetsujin 28 by Evalution Dynamite toys is reissued again for those who don't have one or do not have the SOC by Bandai.

I believe Amiami still has them on pre-order if anyone likes this guy. I do. :)
But being I have the SOC version this is just 1cm taller so I have to skip.

Any think God Mars is a good buy?

You referring to Dynamite version or Bandai's SOC?

In my own opinion, the SOC would be more figure accurate in terms of split robots. In terms of just toy fun, go Dynamite version.

The Dynamite version looks like blocks, quite streamline.

http://robotjapan.proboards.com/thread/22220/dynamite-action-god-combination-godmars

The SOC is definitely more natural. Not too blockish.

The Daimos could be obtained at reasonable prices I think.

I don't think I can help with Volts V. My humble opinion is to wait for a reissue as they did for Combatra. The Volts V is a popular robot as many asian countries did show it on their television in the old days.

Well....I didn't pay that much for mine for the Volts V, I think it was maybe at 21,000 yen or so long ago. You be shock to know I only paid $100US for the original popy version loose. That toy weighs a ton.

As for deep pockets, not really, I do try my best to consider each purchase and not going "must buy". The problem is toys nowadays do not last in stock if you missed the pre-order and is a roll of the dice. Sometimes they are available and other times not. I find getting toys are harder than before.

The SOC series has been okay if you are collecting, they don't get just sold out immediately at most places and do take a longer time.

There may be a cheaper one down the road, is all to do with patience or how bad you want it.

jazzcomp
15th April 2014, 04:43 PM
I know. Everything's cheaper awhile back when toy collecting isn't as trendy as it is now.
Everybody wishes they have kept their old toys instead of giving them away or breaking them during play.

hmm....I am not sure you gotten the Godaikin DX version which is definitely way bigger than this SOC version. You might have gotten the ST version which is shorter? There is also a hybrid version in between.

The godaikin version stands pretty tall. I do not have the piece with me as is back at my dad's home.

I think you can score below $380 for this. Saw them for 22,000 yen.

There is an episode where Gaofighgar fights a clone (this) of the first Gaogaigar.

Its exactly the same as the first SRC just recolored with more white (Wow! Less paint apps!) and it comes with the Key to Victory (set 2) sold separately from the first release.

It does come with two new effect parts but not worth buying for imo.

This has nothing to do with the SOC and I assume made only for die-hard fans.

At the moment is hold my horses as I have to buy star saber and I have the metal build gundam at 21,100 yen isn't making it any easier for me.

That price has reached where a chogokin dx is which is so far mazinger is the only release.

Welp...

Missed out on preordering SoC GaoGaiGar via any Japanese website as they all sold out within 5mins of the listings going up and of course I was on my way home from work at the time and had ABSOLUTELY no idea of when the solicitations were to be made available anyway! :(

I ended up going with BBTS for my preorder of GGG, price was comparable to some of the Japanese stores, but once postage & currency conversion hit he'll no doubt costing a bit more than I'd initially intended. :o

Just happy I managed to secure one from SOMEWHERE, I would've been thoroughly pissed had I of missed out entirely - Now to begin yet another waiting game. ;):p

Chogokin Mazinger Z and Weapons pack. Fits in Scaling wise as well with my GX31 Voltes V

Small figure but heavy as due to the die cast parts hehe. Now I only need to have Daimos and Im done with getting the 3 robots I grew up with on TV...besides Transformers :p;)

Daimos can be obtained at reasonable prices.

The Super Robot chogokin series had been underated, They are actually very high quality display figures minus the gismos off what the SOC version will do at reasonable prices.

I have the SOC version for Mazinger and great mazinger thus I skipped that.

Well I'm hoping I do find one at a reasonable price. I chose this one after conferring around a fb group collecting Super robots coz I wantedone that is close to scale to my Voltes V robot, GX31. I says it did quite nicely. Hope they make a Aphrodite A of same scale to go with it as well a Boss Borot :D, I might grab that too. Another Robot I might invest upon because of Nostalgia as I had the cheaper all plastic version when I was younger is that of Trider G7. Oh and also Danguard Ace, maybe... I gotta research first which release would scale well with Voltes V as he will be my benchmark, scalewise. :)

A potential Bandai version.... yeah, there is still some room for them to improve on this Mad Toys release. Maybe it was to avoid problems with WEP, but i find it odd that the blue lion doesn't have the yellow stripe like the anime. Maybe they're planning a repaint...

But a guy from Miracle Productions (who made the Vehicle Voltron) made a pretty good case against Bandai ever actually doing a Lion Voltron over on the Robot Japan forums (http://robotjapan.proboards.com/post/327453) a few months back:

hi all, prehaps there is something I should not say, if you guys more understanding the relationship between WEP, Toei and Bandai, you will be more understanding why Bandai not making golion.

I believe the WEP and Toei have a couple court case, they sue each other about the right of golion over 20 years.

As a real business partner of Toei, will Bandai make a lion Voltron to upset Toei?

Just the saint seiya Myth cloth series contribute around 10% total sales of Bandai, and, other big titles like Dragon Ball, one piece ...etc. you can imagine how big the amount they work together every year.

FOr Lion Voltron, how many pcs Bandai can sell? 50,000? I guess, how much they can earn? 100 USD each? may be or may be not.

so, total max is just around 5,000,000 USD. for a small company like us, is a lot, for Bandai, sure is not a lot.

will Bandai going to upset Toei just becasue of this amount, I don't think so....

so, that's why bandai did not and will not make it.

sorry, I am really talking too much.

Worst comes to worst, I'll sell Mad Toys one in favour of a better Bandai one if they make it!

More than good match for now:

1. No please read their terms and condition, remember they are 2nd hand and may not be accurate description . I have seen volts v soc for 450,000 yen now I think it's wrongly priced as well.

2. Most of the time they don't sell broken, but they do have scratches and missing parts like said second hand.

lol. If I was gonna buy it, I'd hold off watching too. Saw one in the shops when I was cruising around the other day. Looks very nice in person too!

FInally got a chance to see these beauties. (please ignore the Yamato, it was just in the same room and there for size comparison)

Hello Kitty I bought because.... um... I was drunk? It's a weird crossover? I like Hello Kitty robots? I dunno. It' to celebrate 40 years of Hello Kitty AND Chogokin, so what's not to like? Daltanious I bought because it's just an awesome looking robot with a slight link to Voltron.

Daltanious has a frikking HUUUUUGE box! Had trouble getting it back Kansai on the plain. Only just managed to fit in the Hand luggage..... Too big for my suitcase.

Glad to have him, accessories out the whazoo and chunky as buggery. I managed to spy him on the X-ray as he went through the airport and it was pretty awesome to see all the metals hilighted hur hur hur (Man I am a nerd.)

Can't wait to spend some quality time with him. Ratchet there for scale. :D

I considered Daltanious for sometime as I am buying the King Of Beast I thought this would come in side to side.

I have the Original Godaikin Daltanious.

My list of SOC Bandai should be looking:
Voltron (Golion) > we know Toyami had probably made an exclusive deal with wep
Red Baron > Is due for a SOC version
Giant Gorg > Would like Bandai to challenge Sentinal version which is pricy
Goshogan > I am expecting this! because they have been coming out Trident and all the old robots.
Gurren Lagann > Shouldnt be hard since SRC is available

Well...just wait and see I guess.

Dont really know anything about Daltanious but it looks neat. Nice haul!

Goshogan > I am expecting this! because they have been coming out Trident and all the old robots.

Just the other day i was reading a review of something and there was this comparison pic with a robot i loved the design of but didnt recognize... You saying Trident (Trider?) made me think i might like the design of this Goshogan too, which i'd never heard of either. Googled that shit and lo and behold it's the robot i couldn't identify!

Now i want one but i think the one i saw was a CM's Corp $400+ figure? No good will wait for SoC or SRC lol

Yeah I may have mis spelt their names, but Goshogan would be a SOC candidate I think. There may be a few other old Takatoku toy robots that may be done SOC but its all with Bandai decision and god knows what they decide.

Not at all, I would buy that. But I dont think is going to be anytime soon.

Grendizer just released for preorder with the UFO option, hence I think GGG would be similiar though that is in the SOC range, soc also had Grendizer with the other planes sold seperately.

I think the Volts in box respect had more paint apps hence the price.

The first issue shouldn't be worth that much. The 40th one is just metallic finish instead of the normal paint version.

SOCs generally are not worth over $350 for any figure, but noted the GGG was already at $300 mark.
Most of them get reissued anyway, and even more regular than Transformers masterpieces.

I am surprised they haven't done some of the potential SOCs.

Volts V now at 36,500 yen at NY. I think this particular figure is more sorted for as it was televised in countries such as Philippines, Indonesia.
US had the Godaikin which weighed a ton!

SOC version looks more refined but it isn't as mobile or flexible, the head movement is still limited.

Actually no, I think is a good tip. I found it hard in Japan to get a money changer, hence I think I had about 50,000 yen or less on hand while touring. Whenever I am in a store that accept credit card, I used it. Normal small food stores, I have used their currency cash.

I also changed money not from Australia but from Malaysia or Singapore.

Insult? not so, I just happened to be more ready when touring. Some people have the fear of carrying so much cash on hand. But the thing was Japan is very safe from pick pocketing crimes.
