View Full Version : UK Definitive Comic collection from Hachette now in Australia

With the latest pair, it means we now have volume 1 to 26, which covers the original US and UK comic (1-20), the Regeneration One comic (21-24), and the first two volumes of Dreamwave's Gen1 comic (25-26).

I didn't notice this before, but for some reason, they are skipping Dreamwave's 3rd volume of their Gen1 comic, their Micromaster miniseries, as well as the first 7 issues of their Armada comic and the Energon comic.
Even though the Energon comic and Gen1 comic were left unfinished when Dreamwave collapsed, they could have still included the completed issues and given a short description of what was planned next.
The tfwiki page claims that the Micromaster mini-comic was originally planned, but was replaced with the Armada issues... which is intentionally incomplete so that only the latter part with Gen1 characters is included.

Believe those DW issues aren't reprinted (and IDW didn't reprint them either when they reprinted other DW comics) are legal reasons relating to the bankruptcy of Dreamwave and some creators not being paid for their work on those issues.
Armada is not G1 and doens't really belong anyway, that some G1 characters appeared means some of the issues make sense, if you squint, but they could have left Armada out all together and I'd have been fine.

I wasn't expecting Armada to be in there either, and would have preferred it left out too... but I can see why they included it if this was supposed to be the "definitive" Gen1 comic collection.
It could then mean including other Gen1 comics, like the Blackthorne 3D comics, one-shot freebie comics like the one that came with a recent complete DVD boxset, and FunPub/3H comics.
It sounds strange that the first seven issues had disputes with payment of the staff, but not any of the other issues.

Not with Armada - leaving them out is a side effect of the late decision to include some of Armada in this collection but not enough from for all. It's those incomplete series that had the problems.

Got this delivery too. No issue 58.
Turns out I did. Issue 60 on backorder, 61 delivered. So now have two volumes pending
Picked up my latest delivery. Third month in a row it was only book (issue 63 /vol58). Beyond a joke now.
When to the post office today to pick up some things waiting for a me a while. This included issues 64 + 65 in one parcel and issue 62 in another. 62 was missing from the last delivery.
I'm still to receive issue 58 and issue 60
This is mostly to help me keep track but might be useful for others to know
#56 Vol 41 Drift [received]
#57 Vol 74 Transformers vs G.I. Joe, Part 2 [received]
#58 Vol 47 International Incident [backorder]
#59 Vol 05 The Smelting Pool [received]
#60 Vol 54 A Better Tomorrow [backorder]
#61 Vol 48 Revenge of the Decepticons [received]
#62 Vol 15 Time Wars [backorder received]

#65 Vol 63 Elegant Chaos [received]
#66 Vol 09 Toy Soliders [in country, one month behind]
#67 Vol 78 New Cybertron [in country, one month behind]
I'm still a little surprised that we are about 6 months away from completing the original 80 issue run of these books. Time has flown since these started.

You may need to call them about the missing issues.
I actually called them since they charged me twice in one week, and I asked about the missing issues, and he said they had no record of it.
So told them and they noted it, and said I should always contact them when they're missing.

I've also been charged twice in one week, about to contact them myself but was checking if it had happened to anyone else. I am not missing any issues currently so seems to be unrelated.
Also yeah we've almost completed the original run and thats gone by fast, I mean they're on the extension now but they seemed so far ahead.

Hmm. They charged me on 22 May and 29 May too. So either two shipments are about to come my way and catch me up (since I've been two issues behind for ages) or there's a mistake

Yeah, they said it was because I was behind, and they're up to issues 68,69. or was it upto 66,67? But yeah, the dude on the extremely broken and noisey line said that, was kind of hard to hear all words.

I was charged on the 25 and 29, and yeah I heard those issues as well. The two charges were for 67-69, couldnt get through to them until yesterday. Their page gives no indication of when to call and the closed message was telling me to call back during the period I was ringing?
I think it was a bigger problem with Bissett but if I could see an exact rhythm to when they were charging me I wouldnt jump to 'accident'
67 is still the latest I've had.

I think those are close to what the closed message said but it was like 5:30pm- either 10 or 11pm ACT so probably throw a dart somewhere in-between the crossover

Have you tried calling them? I've never had any luck getting through, but I wouldn't want to see them skipping issues and not remembering to fulfil them, as it would ruin the whole point of this large, continuous collection.
These would be a real bitch to have to chase up missing volumes from secondary sources like ebay, as you'd have to search the UK pages for them.
That reminds me... I gotta somehow chase them up to update my credit card details, as the card they have on file finally expires next month. I certainly don't want to be taken off the subscription list and have to track down the final 29 issues myself... but I'm worried that it might happen, as they are so difficult to get into contact with, and even if I did, I won't trust that they'd be able to update my details.

Did anyone get a shipment during July?
I just noticed that the last one was at the end of June, but since it was only 2 weeks after the previous shipment, it might have been sent out too early, and was meant to be sent out in mid-July. (my credit card expired at the end of July, but I had been worried that some places might not use it during July)
Wow... three years ago this month, this series was first released in Australia.
That time has flown by, and we still have about 30 volumes left to go (another year).
Just letting people know that I've updated the first post with contact details, as they are somewhere buried in this topic but it takes too long trying to find them.
Besides, the phone number they told me to call (when they finally replied to an email) is not exactly the same as the one on the paperwork they send out with the books... which could be why I have never been able to get anyone to answer in the past.
I had to update my credit card details as the old one has expired, so hopefully they properly updated it, so that I don't miss the rest of the series. (the person who answered my call was a bit rude)
While I had someone's attention, I also asked on behalf of others who had backorder notices, to see how long they can expect to wait on their missing issues. I couldn't get an actual answer, so asked how long they should wait before chasing up a missing issue, which she said 6 months. A long wait, but I guess if they are out of stock, they might need to do a reprint or wait for unsold issues to be sent back from newsagents in the UK first.
(added to first post)
EDIT UPDATE - contact details for Australia (to chase up damaged or missing issues, or to update your payment details)
Since the change of Australian distributor, and change of billing to the UK head office of Hachette, contact details and payment details have changed.
Payments will appear as a UK charge, with foreign fees if your bank has foreign transaction fees.
If you need to contact them in the UK...
Email - customer_service_aus@hachette-service.com
Phone - Call this number: 02 8378 7930 (Open Mon-Fri 17.00-23.00 AEST) - it is an Australian number that will redirect to the UK at their expense. (you won't be charged for the international phonecall, if calling within Australia).
If you have been sent a "backorder" notice because they couldn't supply a certain volume (probably ran out of copies), contact them if it doesn't show up after 6 months. That's a long wait, but that is what I was told, as it probably takes a few months for replacements to be found or maybe reprinted, and shipped from their side of the world (if they are sending stock in batches to Australia).

So have they managed a different character on the cover of each issue?
griffin
1st August 2020, 10:08 PM
I think so, as there have been some really obscure characters showing up (I've been posting up a fair few of them in this topic as I get them), and I don't recall there being the same characters recycled in multiple different poses.
Paulbot
1st August 2020, 11:56 PM
A couple of characters have been on more than one cover, the usual suspects: Optimus, Megatron, Bumblebee, Starscream, Hot Rod, Ironhide. Prowl even appears on two covers in a row (in volume number). Honestly it could have been planned out better. Check out the gallery of the covers here:

I have received 72 and 73 in the past few days, I've only just opened it now to check it was that so been a bit too busy to post. I think I've had 71 before that but I didnt post so I should check. I remember MTMTE volumes with MTMTE characters though.
And yeah they could've done the covers better, but there's some nice stuff in there. That one Optimus is PmOP is nice, and then the Sherman Dam battle art of Optimus and Megatron (not next to each other in chronological sequence apparently?)
I think they also opened a door by using Alex Milne art of Figeoura Megatron for one volume, on a collection of pretty consistently Sunbow designs. If that wasnt an isolated case it'd be cooler. I mean that's quite an awkward Swerve tbh, why not use the MTMTE RI cover that was also their Thrilling 30 packaging art? Or alternatively, both. There should be plenty of IDW art from that period that they could use and stuff like T30 Whirl would fit this collection even without changing what the covers are about the way a Milne/Don F Megatron does
Kei Zama's Optimus 1 cover. All the original art from the Hasbro U sourcebook which is still mostly by Guido Guidi
Or at least don't put Prowl on those two sequential volumes even though it is both good drawings. Like, how about Galvatron for the collection of Galvatron stories? Kup or Arcee?

Mail is an essential service. how far away is your post office?
15km away from home, but 500 metres away from my office though so usually very convenient!
I don't think travelling 15km to check a mail box is essential and AusPost refuse to forward anything from the POBox to my home address unless I have a tracking number for it, and these deliveries don't have one, nor does the envelope with my new drivers license in it! I was thinking that if I got pulled over and couldn't show a current license it would back up my story of why I was travelling out of my 5km... but I could also get struck twice!

That's so unprofessional.
I think it is time to call them up about the earlier two, now that it is beyond 6 months... and then check up on the recent two while you have their attention so that you don't have to wait another six months. (use the phone number in the first post)
Maybe they only send shipments to Australia every 6 months - maybe ask how often they send stock to Australia, and if it is less than the time since those issues were released here, I'd be wondering why they haven't sent the missing issues within that time, or in a timely matter.

Assuming that Hachette has collected them in in-universe chronological order, it's quite amazing to think that IDW has been responsible for over 50% of Transformers comic story-telling.
griffin
3rd September 2020, 08:37 PM
There is a fair bit of Dreamwave missing, none of FunPub/3H included, and some of the IDW crossovers were left out, but I think they got all of the Marvel US and UK (when they expanded to 100 volumes)... so yes, IDW have produced over half of the licensed comics that were sold in stores, and I remember a few years ago there was a big announcement that IDW had officially produced more material (or issues?) than any of the previous license-holders.
At the bottom of the TFwiki page for this series (https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Transformers:_The_Definitive_G1_Collection) they break it up the different volumes into their eras and publishers... so you can see the different amounts, that are released so far in the UK.

When you consider that there’s scores of movie universe comics as well, the Animated comics, the TFPrime comics, plus the crossover books that aren’t in this collection (MLP, Terminator, Ghostbusters, that GIJoe comic where Skywarp was on the JOE team etc) and yes IDW has definitely produced an astonishing amount of TF comics.

I still don?t understand why the Dreamwave g1 content is omitted. It was speculated on the wiki that it was because no one was sure if the authors/artists ever got paid, but its not like they?re long dead and buried. They are all active online. Could they have just asked them? And I?m sure give the truckload of money Hachette are making on milking the IDW and Marvel content they could afford to pay them twice

What scares me about your list is that apart from volume 73, they're the same ones I'm missing.
I'm also a month behind, but I think that has todo with then being unable to find my credit card details when Bisset magazine went bust. so It all got delayed in postage, even though they seem to take my money too often in my mind. :D

I wonder why you are having so much bad luck with these. It's not like they don't know how many subscribers are currently here and are just guessing how many copies to send to Australia.
I wonder if you are last on their list, and any time they are short, you are the one who misses out (probably because you are a month behind, and the Australian distributor keeps losing issues - or, sends out yours to anyone complaining about a damaged copy the month before).
Next time you call them up, ask them (demand) to catch you up with everyone else, even if it means a double expense for one shipment. It might fix the problem if you can get your books at the same time as everyone else.

Only 1 left of the first set of 80.

Can anyone tell me what the heck is going on with these volumes?
I've subscribed from day #1 and read months back that they were "thinking" about extending the run and adding other things.
but now after this long im still waiting for them to complete the marvel us / uk 80s run (the entire reason I subbed to them in the first palce) I didnt mind getting the dreamwave stuff thrown in, and now the most recent one I recevied has that bonkers IDW joe/TF crossover with nice art but some of the worst comics writing I've ever read and definitely NOT on the list of the original run of comics as promised (I don't think this book was even published when they started these reptrints). It's a book I would never have paid for on purpose as I truly hated it.
Is there an updated listing of what they doing now, or are just randomly throwing anything modern in to "extend" the line basically never finish?
It's a really horrible way to collect Tf comics, I feel ripped off at this point as I mainly wanted the core marvel books and should have just bought the existing IDW softcovers, I only went in for this run as it promised to finish the UK run too which IDW never did.
If they are going to start throwing more random stuff in I quit it yet, but damn it I want the finished run of us / uk so I can actually you know......READ them, without just re-reading the torrent versions again.
Def never buying anything fromt his publisher again.
Ont he plus side when they sent out defect books I contacted them and they sent replacements each time. When I say defects im talking uncut pages in the comics from the printer (making the book unreadable) not the more common known page order errors etc.

This is up to date: https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Transformers:_The_Definitive_G1_Collection
Issue 66 completes the Marvel US/UK run (the first 20 volumes)
But some 80/90s Marvel comics, like the Marvel GIJoe crossovers, the Marvel TFTM adapation, and G2 Marvel comics are in the extra 20 volumes.
The recent GIJoe/Transformers comic is certainly bizarre (and would have been better off in the extra 20. So would the random Armada comics about halfway through (that apparently fill the gap of some Dreamwave G1 comics they couldn't repints - Vol 3 and Micromasters)
If they'd releasesd these in Volume order, I would have stopped at Vol 20.

I am so close to ending this god damn pain of a subscription.
I am still waiting on some backorders and just got charged 2 payments today, which is strange, since I also got charged a week ago.
Did anyone else get 3 charges this month?
I have had 2 payments removed today, and one last week, this is rediculous. I have contacted Customer support and they don't have record of the double charge.
So they are "looking in" to it for me.
They say the one at the start was for the last issues, but that invoice is dated the 5/11/2020..
At my wits end with this company now.

The one on the 4th might be for the last delivery... I've just got to try to remember how to tell which payment is for which shipment.
I'll try to call them up, to see if they can give an answer or refund... if they answer the phone.

I actually got someone answering the phone (thanks to the number in the first post of this topic NOT the phone number they have on each of the printed invoices with each shipment).
The charge on 3rd-4th December is for Issues 80 & 81, which they said was charged late.
And one of the charges on the 15th December is for Issue 82 & 83, which they said must be early, or they are in the mail as we speak.
I have been asked to email a screen-shot of my bank statement, for them to investigate the second charge on the 15th, as they said that it isn't showing up in their system.
If I get a reply from the email, I'll let you guys know.

Hmm. A charge in the 3rd and two on the 14th for me... nothing received since mid November....
The mid November shipment should be the charge on DEC 3rd (according to what I was told on the phone, based on the invoice number I gave them for my delivery), while ONE of the charges on the 14th should be for the next shipment.
What we need to know from Hachette is if the double charge is for two shipments, or if one was an error.

23rd November was the last time I received books now the only time I was charged was 7th November so that would be that.
Now I have been charged on the 5th of December so going with that, I should have a new set of books around the start of next week (21st).
Now on the 16th, been charged twice and the reference number is one after the other (....475 and ....476).
All I can say is intradasting

That they've charged all of us twice this week is a problem unless four volumes are on the way.

I got a a reply back, saying that they would refund the extra charge... which would take a few days.
I then asked if they knew why it happened, and if they were going to refund all of the other people who got double-charged... or if they have to ask for the refund.
I haven't got a reply to that yet, but I recommend emailing them with the dates of the charges in December, including any reference numbers that you might have (or a screenshot of the part of the bank statement that has the day of the two charges.

I'd advise everyone to check their bank statements and invoices.
I've just done that and found I've currently been charged four times ($160!) for which I have yet to receive anything for.
I've got the early December charge that should be 80+81 for me (post delays I assume). I've got the extra two December charges (early for January maybe, but the second is suspicious)
But I was also charged twice in September and didn't get anything extra (such as a catch up to the rest of you). If anything it means I still haven't received what I paid for at the start of November and the post delays aren't that bad.

They are sending me a copy of ALL charges.
So it wasn't just me they did a double charge too, someone must have done the processing TWICE.
There was also a charge on the 16th of October, which they said they never received. I showed them a copy of ALL charges, and they're refunding that one, and the second charge on the 14th.
so when I get the copy of chargers I think I need to go through it and see if there are other discrepancies.

I know there are more rogue charges to my account then the two I got refunded, if they did refund the money hasn't arrived yet, email was on Thursday so still on the 3-5 business days.
But I've had 15 charges in 12 months. So it seems off. But talking to them is so hard since you always get a different person replying to emails with the same BS answers.

Just saw on my bank statement, a credit/refund dated yesterday.
I also picked up the next two issues from the post office today (82 & 83 - volumes 90 & 81). The invoice enclosed was dated December 3rd, so if that is the day they charged my account, that would be the one on the 4th... and the charge on the 15th must be for the next pair that must be on its way (from the UK I guess, in bulk to the Australian distributor to send out to each of us).
If only my online statement showed reference/invoice numbers on the charges so that I could see for sure which charge goes with which pair of books.

I've just gone through and am now keeping a document of every transaction from them documented, but while I was starting to expect a refund it might be more situational. I didn't get a charge in November and it's been one a month until now. Sounds like others did get a November one, and it still suggests confusion on their end. But I've had 12 transactions this year and I cant say I was much of a Partswork fan in the first place but as I suppose one of the 'lucky' ones not to suffer the additional charges and missing books (great combo), this is not an experience to repeat.
I still like the books at least.

24th December 2020, 01:30 PM
They sent me all the charges for my account over the past two months and two of the charges on my credit card weren't in their records, so I've definitely been charged on two occasions and received nothing for it. Still waiting for a follow up on a refund (but assuming it'll take a while with Xmas.
I was able to pick up issues 80/81 today (Delivered on 15 Dec but Post Office didn't notify me).
So at year's end I'm still four issues paid for but not delivered, plus erroneous charges for 4 more issues (it's like I've been charged twice for books I never got! )

They can't account for two payments and say that one payment was for different issues to what the invoice says. I want the paperwork from them so I can get the bank/credit card company to do a chargeback.

A simple YES or NO would suffice. I have not looked at this thread in months and its simpler to just ask then wade through 60 pages hoping it might randomly have what I'm looking for.
Honestly that kind of answer is deliberately UNHELPFUL. I'd rather have got no answer.
As the company that sends that out (out of ORDER) volumes has not completed MY VOLUMES, just seeing a photo doesnt tell me if that person had to chase up the company for missing volumes.
The company/(well three companies) have made a right hash of it sending out no less than 10 damaged volumes to me, and not completing the sequential volumes with gaps basically through the entire run present here in my home.
So the help of people who have experienced the same is useful. I mean that's kind of why I go to a Transformers forum in the first place, for like minded individuals who like to help each other out. Some call it "community" but it's more accurately a collective (except for the folks who do meet up offline etc).
I guess I'll go ask the same question on the much older TFW2005 page, seeing as folks are VERY helpful there.
I don't think I'll be posting here again Griffin, as it seems you deliberately don't answer questions from me specifically across several forums, when you could have posted nothing at all and just let someone else answer (which they did, thank you).
If I've misread things, then I apologize, but you are not the first person to be obtuse on even unfriendly on these boards towards me. And I removed myself from multiple threads and have only actively following 3 subbed threads as I find the climate on these boards to be quite hostile, insular and unwelcoming. From people I don't even know, that had no reason to even communicate with me in the first place.

When you say the company has sent you voulmes out of order, do you mean by the issue numbers or by the Volume numbers on the book? The volumes are intentionally not in order, but the issues should be.
Since they got past the 80th issue (which completed volumes 1-80) I have been receiving the issues/volumes each month for the remaining 20 with no missing issues - just a delay on the last month because my credit card expired.

Picked up the next 2 from the post office... 3 left to go (98-100).
Those still missing volumes, might need to keep hassling Hachette before they send out #100, in case they decide they are now done with shipping out transformers comics completely.

They sent me something that was on backorder - but to my old address.(the address that was current when I should have got them so on the invoice I guess). I'm waiting for that delivery to make it to my actual home (the Post Office was kindly forwarding it to me) to know what it included, what I'm still missing and to let them know their error so it doesn't happen to whatever else is still backordered.
It's not like they are going to disappear though as soon as you get volume 100 - there's multiple subscribers at various stages they need to service and ongoing market for other books.
I was reading on a FB group the other day that they just extended their Marvel graphic novels partworks series - and the collectors are mad. Lots of "let it die already" type comments. I'd feel the same if they extended the TF one past #100.

I’m down to three backordered volumes. They sent two back orders to my old address and one got returned to sender. Otherwise it would be two. But quick replies to emails and they assure me those back orders will come to my current address.
Still really keen to be done with this!

My bank statement says they only charged me $20 on AUG 23rd, so the final volume should be on its way.
I hope they send out more of the outstanding issues for others now that they are done with some of us.

My bank statement says they only charged me $20 on AUG 23rd, so the final volume should be on its way.
And today at the post office, the final volume was there (arrive there yesterday).
I'm going to miss picking up those plastic bag covered issues every four-ish weeks.
This topic was started this week four years ago... and it only felt like yesterday that I was tossing over if I really wanted to risk committing to a 3 year (at the time) project, that would cost $1600 (also, at that time).
Now that it is over, it is a nice collection that would have been great value compared to collecting all of those stories as TPB (with some flaws that people have noted over the years), but fell apart at the end by starting to include the new era of IDW comics, knowing that their volumes would stop halfway through that new story.
Now to sit down and start reading them all, from start to finish...

Got Issue 100 today, wish I could say I was complete now.
But alas Issues 77,and 99 are still on backorder, and they don't reply to my emails... First World Transformer Collection Problems. I may rename them Premium Hachette Toy Bot Collectables for the level of customer disservice they give haha!

Last time when I had problems with my credit card details, I rang them and got through straight away which I was lucky one as the last time I tried, it took more than an hour on hold listening to the same two songs over and over. I also got issue 50 sent out again as the one I had was damaged from the postal service.
So instead of emailing, just try to ring as soon as the office is open.

Got issue 99 (which is also vol 99) today - although it’s been at the post office a while just hadn’t been logged in at the post office so I didn’t receive a notice.
It came with an updated invoice listing the four issues on back order (per my last post) and that 99 was now delivered. Three to go.

For anyone still missing some outstanding issues and you are on facebook, try posting on their fb page here (https://www.facebook.com/TransformersG1Collection/posts/pfbid0idQ4adQoaZGt5a72X9J8zcWjXQHZvwSvUH5r9Ytx46qH MA6TdMpFgWxEJ2MxoNcxl?__cft__[0]=AZUYrNXmpy-JOblvky9Lfe8uQ-iCgaJQIdy2HvcwftLJPS1gpRSf-f_Ez0yZxUEbEsloIAEw2adx8YJJeiqXZx1adtqNt8DWJ49XKZe vafD6hRhoqIQVQNIpalYZqMt-9HoHnOMqosNLVU_4weN4aa-E&__tn__=%2CO%2CP-R), as they have popped up to talk about how reliable they are (noting the collapse of a rival - Eaglemoss), and have already been replying to people who have noted an incomplete set.

I'm well behind thanks to losing my job 2 years ago. Last issue I have is 64 (although I should re-buy that one thanks to the store putting a boxcutter through the cover).
What's the best way to finish off the collection, back at the agents or directly?

I would think ebay or fansites in the UK would be your best chance getting that many now.
It was over a year and a half ago since they stopped printing them and shipping them out to UK subscribers, and almost 12 months since they finished sending out the last issue to subscribers here (August last year). As such, I don't think they would even have any old stock left on-hand... unless they were planning to re-launch to America next year now that IDW are losing the license at the end of the year (which would have prevented them from selling this UK edition in that country at that time).

Got issue 99 (which is also vol 99) today - although its been at the post office a while just hadnt been logged in at the post office so I didnt receive a notice.
It came with an updated invoice listing the four issues on back order (per my last post) and that 99 was now delivered. Three to go.
Nearly 8 months later - I just received two more books. Was not expecting that.
One was a second copy of issue/vol 99 (if any one needs that one let me know) and one was a copy of issue73/volume56.
Thanks to Vairn earlier this year I have a copy of issue71/volume77
So now I am just book short of the whole set - issue75/volume70 "Punishment"
Maybe it is still going to come!? I did send a message via their Facebook page a few weeks ago that might have prompted movement.

Well I didn't expect this...!
Today I received issue71/volume77 "Dissolution" in the mail from Hachette, one of the two issues they hadn't sent me.
Last time I got books was August 2022; so a nearly 11 month gap, and that was after an 8 months gap.
So maybe my last missing book issue75/volume70 "Punishment" will arrive some day!
I had got a copy of issue71/volume77 "Dissolution" from Vairn so now I have a spare, if anyone needs it let me know!

That is such bad luck that it wasn't the one that you were still missing.
I haven't had much luck with finding volume 70 for you either, from English sources, so hopefully this means that they are still intending to fulfill their obligation to you, eventually.
I wonder where they dug up that issue from after all this time.

Thanks for trying! When I picked up the delivery I did have my fingers crossed it would be that last volume.
It doesn't seem impossible that they may send it to me in the future now, but I'm working on a workaround that I'll be sharing here once it's ready for feedback.
