Absence Thread

I had a thought the other day. We should have a thread that details peoples absense from the board if they so choose to reveal that absense. Saves people wondering "is that user okay?" or something to that effect. Like when Soundwarp is off out bush or similar and can't access a computer.

As such, I'm mentioning my absense :P I'm off camping from tomorrow until Thursday, and will be very excited to go (hopefully hitting a big w or 2 on the way to our destination for a good old fashioned toy hunt :P).

They have free Wifi hotspots throughout the air port (take note Telstra/Optus! ;)). This is a good thing because I have to wait 8 hours for my connecting flight!

Good luck Vector Sigma 13 :) Funny thing is I was just talking to the wife about this tonight after watching that Undercover Boss show. I came to the realisation that with a wife, two kids, and a mortgage, it would be a very risky investment. I think if you're going to start your own business, you have to get in there while you're still young as you've maybe got less to loose.

I did encourage her though that if she wanted to start her own business, I would support her 100%. At least we would have my job to fall back on.

I'm spending more time TALKING about Transformers instead of PLAYING with them, and that to me is just spastic!

Just letting people know that I won't be on here for a while. I received some bad news the other day that my dad was diagnosed with cancer and can expect no more than 5 years. I hope Birmingham's recovered from the riots - cos that's where they hold the UK Transformers con!! Although I think this year's just happened... (not sure). Don't bother driving there though, apparently the roads there are so poorly designed they make Sydney's roads look good... and that's NOT good! I remember when the riots were happening one of my colleagues who has relatives in England was saying that it's no wonder the rioters were walking in and looting Birmingham, cos it beats driving in there! :p :p

I've never experienced anything like that before; needless to say I had to toss up visiting all the geek stores in one Paris block or visit the famous Paris landmarks. It was a tough choice... Eiffel Tower be damned! :D

Why wasn't that in my travel guide for Paris?! Apart from a HMV store with a large graphic novel section I didn't see any other comic shops or similar. I would have checked it out for sure. :)

I knew when we booked the apartment that there was a comic store right on the corner, so I thought that was cool. But when I actually arrived there, I couldn't believe it... they were everywhere! Literally, I can think of 10 different stores right now off the top of my head. It was in an area about 2 minutes walk (if that) south from Notre Dame Cathedral. I highly recommend it!!

A total suspected recovery period of up to 3 months (Per eye) is expected, but an optimistic estimate of when I'd be able to even look at a computer monitor next is a week; so in saying that...

@Kazza, Janda_The_Red & Megatron: Thank you all very much for your well wishes, very much appreciated indeed. ;):)

Surgery went well, spent quite some time in a degree of discomfort but thankfully very minimal pain; My physician is very pleased with the healing progress of my Right eye and if all things continue on this good path whilst remaining to go according to plan, sometime between March & June I should expect to go in and have the same treatment applied to my Left eye. :o:D

Hopefully after all that, the degeneration of my corneas will cease and the procedure will have done its job. :cool:
