Question, all these figures from China, free shipping, starts form 99c bids. IDW Orion, Megs, FOC Twintwist, Thundercracker, Skywarp ($10.5 shipping), Platinum Grimlock; they are all over ebay. Are these the real deal? I know $40 Mp's are Ko's but are these?

Sellers like these two.

I don't believe so (for lena at least). I have purchased those two Targetmasters for United Artfire as additional accessories for other figures. They appear as good as the real thing.

I previously purchased some ridiculously cheap toys from similar sellers in the past, and the quality does not feel like KO's. Granted, they one of the figures does feel like it was on the low end of passing QC, and another had a minor gimmick that didn't work. This leads me to believe that the products sold by such sellers are legitimate Hasbro factory products, that have somehow made their way out of the factory.

The cheap loose (unpackaged) figures are most likely from factory workers who either smuggled out completed figures, or, these were toys left after the packaging stage (extras produced to cover (significantly) defective ones, to make sure they ship their required quota to Hasbro).

Golden Phoenix totally right ...tiger track comes with sticker , and i thick it a factory seconds as griffin stated ...as the head light has black trim around them and the micro printing of the lambo badge and the back print of countach and Lamborghini pretty good.

That's going to skyrocket in the last few minutes.

I doubt anyone's really going to care that Blaster and the tapes are 'missing'. Though I'm a bit concerned, as it doesn't really say it's been opened, but I find it to be too much of a coincidence that Blaster and his accessory tapes just happen to both have been mispackaged from the set.

The price is still great for an opened set, but that one detail just makes me pause slightly before bidding.

I looked, the seller has positive feedback for the sale, so it doesn't appear to be fake bids.

Its not even sealed! I think that is a little high for a MISB, but for an opened MIB piece? Hell I'm pretty sure I could put my MP Grimlock back in the box and say I only transformed him once, and he has been sitting out on my shelf since I got him for the most part!

Yea, I totally agree, there is no way to tell if anything is missing without opening the box and looking. seems a bit dodgey, at least in the claim of new and MISB.

Well, there is the upcoming Asian edition, which will expensive, would still be cheaper than this.

I'm guessing it's to do with the confirmation of the Dinobots starring role in TF4.

I've also decided I'm not bidding on that SDCC set. Just too many red flags. The four items that supposedly aren't in the MISB set just happen to all correspond to each other? That's just too much of a coincidence.

Couple that with feedback indicating the seller has tampered with items he's sold before that were supposedly unopened, and it's just too much of a risk.

No exclusives or anything that was too hard to find, however even if you were after a quarter of them in MISB, that current ambit price would make it a tempting bargain :)

Final price - $142.

I'm positive that others had the same concerns already bought up here, as that's a ridiculously low price.

Still, as much as I want the set, I'm glad I held back.

If the guy had just admitted that he, or whoever he got it from, had kept the Blaster and tapes for themselves, it'd have been perfectly fine.

But the way it was worded made it all sound suspicious, especially with the listing as 'Unopened'.

Technically it doesn't come 'Baster and tapes'.

So it's either a dry turkey experience or a typo.

In the description it's right under the 'I WILL COMBINE SHIPPING' line.

''99.9% Complete as box arrived without baster and tapes''

After he mentions the missing tapes though, he includes a generic set description which DOES still talk about the tapes, so it'd be easy to miss.

And of course the set is listed as Unopened. I don't trust the odds on 4 accessories being left out of the set by the factory that also happen to coincidentally all be designed to go together.

Don't feel bad for posting it. You did nothing wrong, and may have done someone a favour. It could all be legit, and/or they can decide if they think it's worth the risk.

I'm glad you shared it. I ended up deciding not to bid, but I'm still glad you shared it.

It's not your fault if you share an item that then turns out to be by a dodgy seller. Can't win 'em all.

I see the seller left feedback for the buyer on the 23rd, so the buyer must be getting it soon. I messaged the buyer and asked about it, just to see how it all turned out, and if it was worth it. Should be interesting if he replies, and we'll know if it was all on the level.

He knew the board and thread (Hai whoever you are!), so this is obviously okay to share, but it's all legit, and the buyer's happy with the condition, and knew that it was missing those accessories.

All in all, a good deal. Seems like the only one who got screwed was the seller, who screwed himself out of more cash.

1. Tigatron was part of the 2nd or 3rd wave of BW toys to hit the shelves. By this time, the Rocky-Bubble packaging had been abandoned for smooth bubbles.

2. All BW carded figures had the trademark 'hook notch' out of the top of the card for them to hang on. This item has a semi-circle hole.

26 bids on it.

Take a look at the bidding activity.

Does that bidding pattern look strange to anybody else?

Bidders bidding it up by $10 increments, multiple times, when they were already in the lead? Then not bidding again? Multiple bidders doing the same thing?

No, because they were never in the lead to begin with. For instance:

It's a real pity given MP08 Grimlock Reissue will be available in January ... and for a whole lot less $. I also feel for those that laid out their hard earned cash for the MP Grimlock and Skyfire combo, only to find out now that Grimlock can be pre-ordered on his own and for a much better price.

I'll be getting one, but waiting on price from RK. They heve been slow with MP11 Coronation Starscream Reissue. Is this normal for them?

I don't know how legit that it, it claims to be brand new (6 available oout of 21), surely there would have been news somewhere of a poster like that being produced.

although the fine print at the bottom of the poster says distributed by AQUARIUS printed in CANADA.

No Hasbro fineprint at the bottom suggests that it isn't licensed.
Since all those images are available online on botch's boxart website, it probably wouldn't be to difficult to produce that, considering people are knocking-off toy boxes which have a similar look.

there is a little hasbro fineprint on the bottom right hand corner. I didn't mention it as it's too small to read the copyright year reliably.

see, I would have thought a lot of us would have heard about a poster like this coming out 2 years ago. maybe if it was 2002, most of us might have forgotten, but someone would have one. Unless it was just a really limited run.

Not saying the Poster is unauthorised, but KO toys have all the copyright stuff on them as well... so if this was unauthorised, the person producing it could have put that on there to note who owns the property or to make it look legit.
I didn't have much luck looking for an "aquarius posters" to see if it was legit, as search results kept coming up with horoscope posters and poster companies that do horoscope images.

BBTS will probably take better care in packing it than Amazon did for mine.
(although, BBTS uses big-bubble "bubble-wrap", which might not be enough of a cushion)

One side on each of mine was totally caved in... to the point of it not being possible to flatten back. :(
At least they were only cheap, and would only be used for displaying the artwork anyway.

It's not like I would be using them for my lunch at my warehouse... full of big tough guys. :p

There has been a regular flow of 0 feedback bidders from Thailand selling the most awesome items going, AFA, MISB, the works. Pretty sure it is one almighty scam and I think most bidders are onto it, hence the low price.
My theory is that they are getting pictures from other auctions then setting up a paypal account getting that one payment and disappearing with the money.

Please put me out of my misery and help solve this mystery...

There's an ebay.com.au seller that's been putting up rare stuff for auction - boxed G1 and pre-G1 items. They list them as BIN auctions. But when they end without selling they relist at a HIGHER price! And in some cases the auctions do sell but they get relisted again anyway! This is a seller that has been registered for a long time with plenty of positive feedback. I cannot figure out what's going on here.

For example:

Boxed Microchange Perceptor

First auction with BIN of $200 sells. (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/takara-microchange-mc-20-microscope-black-perceptor-/121190516119?hash=item1c37848597)

Second auction with BIN of $200 for what seems to be the same item does not sell. (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/takara-microchange-mc-20-microscope-black-perceptor-/121194535762?pt=AU_Action_Figures&hash=item1c37c1db52)

Now relisted a third time with a BIN of $300!?!?! (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/takara-microchange-mc-20-microscope-black-perceptor-/121206683347?pt=AU_Action_Figures&hash=item1c387b36d3)

The bit about Warpath or the Datsun?
The datto is in line with the 2001 reissue prototypes/test shots that I have seen, it has blocking out in the date stamp where Japan should be.
Disregard my comment on Warpath, I believe he is also a prototype/testshot of the re-issue, mainly due to having the Autobot sticker on his turret like the re-issue, at first I thought he might be a country variant.

I wouldn't be so quick on that.

Did you read the description?

He's swapped out the thighs, and for some reason, repainted the eyes? I don't quite get that, as it was the TT one that didn't have painted eyes, not the Hasbro. So why repaint already painted eyes?

So you're buying a modified figure.

Something to keep in mind before plunking over your $150.

Yep I didn't read the description I was in a hurry to get it posted

Cat
5th November 2013, 08:57 PM
I can't understand why he'd have repainted the eyes?

He must have swapped either the entire head, or just the eyepiece, between the figures, and painted over the uncoloured TT one to make it match more, and kept the prepainted Hasbro one on his own?

Iriorne
6th November 2013, 12:18 AM
Did he swap and/or repaint the eyes or is he just confirming that the eyes are factory-painted blue, unlike the TT release? Could be interpreted either way, though it's a moot point now the listing has ended.

Cat
6th November 2013, 12:30 AM
I assumed he meant he painted them, otherwise it seems like an odd thing to mention. Also that he placed that sentence after describing the thigh mod he did.

I think the eyes do look to be a bit of a darker shade of blue than the standard Hasbro colour, but that could very well just be the lighting of the photo.

Obviously someone doesn't mind it, whatever the explanation.

Hi team, this item is currently on e-bay and getting a lot of bids and the seller clearly states it isn't a KO but it is as per here http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=121204237067#ht_1253wt_1170

llamatron

If I am not mistaken I think the seller also sets up at Nexus fair and I would assume that they are oblivious to it's KO status. Most likely it was fobbed on to them as a legit original and they just believed.

griffin
6th November 2013, 02:18 PM
That's the main problem I've had with KOs that aim to pass off as originals - that other people will try to resell it thinking it is the real thing. No matter how "noble" a dealer might try be with making it known that they are selling a fake, it's down the line that someone will end up spending a lot of money on a fake, or try to resell it claiming that it is real... which rips off someone else who isn't aware that fakes exist.
At least if the toys and packaging were obviously coloured differently, you can still buy the rare mould without contaminating the pool of authentic toys, to the point that collectors end up avoiding certain figures just in case it is a fake.

Thats a pretty good point, I hate the KO's but can accept that people want to knowingly buy them for whatever reason, but I guess me generally thinking of people as good never considered that the same person would on-sell one as original at some point just to make a buck.
Some figures have become toxic to buy loose in the last few years but with all things the buyer should beware and do their research, there is more than enough info online now to cover one's buttocks when hunting the G1 gems. One tactic that I have noticed from dodgy e-bay sellers is to have out of focus pictures or parts purposefully cut off to hide that it is a KO,.............I don't even want to go into accessories, be they fake or repro!!

And that's why my only KO, of a small Vehicle Voltron vehicle, has had prominent sharpie writing added to the back of various pieces saying 'KO' and 'FAKE'.

It doesn't hurt the displayability of the piece, and it means that no matter what happens to me, the likelihoods of it being mistakenly sold as real are signifigantly lowered.

That is a bit high for a loose version... but not surprising that Hoist and Medix are going up in value.
Blades was being scalped at hight prices before it was re-released with Hoist and Medix, but since the latter two aren't cartoon characters, and are now not likely to be re-released, they are now pretty rare (because few people would have bought them to resell). Most would have been bought by parents for their kids, and within the next few years some loose ones will show up on ebay as some parents try to sell off the toys their kid has grown out of. While the rare serious collectors who bought them are not likely to sell them for some time... until they give up collecting or have to make some money quickly.
It's like trying to find certain types of mainline gimmick figures, that didn't interest too many serious collectors during release, and were mostly bought by parents... so not many end up being sold off later in collector circles.

I've seen those pics before and do think they are great. The Pretender is really thinking outside the square and quite successful. Flywheels colours always looks great on Blitzwing. How many kitbashers need to do it before Hasbro realise that's how the toy should look.

You know that if we don't see it in next year's BotCon set, it means there is a good chance that Hasbro has it on their upcoming agenda (or were planning to do it during 2014).
FunPub would need to use the mould within the next year if they were told by Hasbro "recently" they had no plans to do it... or else FunPub might be told next year that it is now on Hasbro's schedule (after their focus of the Movie line is finished and Hasbro can release more non-Movie product).

The Doubledealer redeco was apparently one FunPub wanted to do but were told that Hasbro were already doing it, so it is a mould they had/have in their sights (and they would be aware of the fan interest in a Flywheels redeco). Since it didn't show up in next year's Subscription Set, and we already know the 2014 Membership figures, it only leaves them with the 2014 BotCon toys before they have to go back to Hasbro with their 2015 toy ideas.

I wonder... if FunPub did end up doing this Flywheels redeco, would they redeco the Springer/Sandstorm mould into Battletrap to make them a matching pair (which would help sell Battletrap, who might not look as good as Flywheels).

It's not complete, each of teh individual characters have their own gun which isn't in those pictures, it does look like there are a fair few yellowing parts, so his statement that joints are generally good might be a little bit of an overstatement as well.

I have my original so I have no idea if thats a good deal for todays prices. It's at my parents house in Victoria so I don't have it on hand but I recall the cobined shoulder joints being a little loose. Mine also definitely has some yellowing.

I doubt it's been KOd yet; Prowl only released in September and Streak in October. From memory it took 6-8 months for Lambor KOs to start appearing? The price on that isn't too ridiculous as some of the Japanese vendors were selling it for in the region of $45 + shipping.

what makes me scratch my head most is that I don't know if streak hss been KOed yet, I know mp sideswipe has

A lot of the other stuff they're selling has not been KO'ed. While it looks like the seller has an alright feedback rating (score of 80 @ 97%), none (http://feedback.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&ftab=AllFeedback&userid=ni_jay1988&iid=-1&de=off&items=25&interval=0&mPg=5&page=1) of their previous positive feedback for listings has been transformers. However as Trent mentioned, it might be worth a punt.

Looks like there are a lot of triggerhappy bidders out there:

Well I am more than a little suspicious now. I sent an e-mail asking if the MP-10 was the Hasbro or Takara version and if they had any more pics. This is their reply:

Dear d*******,

sorry
no more photos
i am in office , not factory
thanks

Dear ni_jay1988,

Hi,
Is this the Takara or Hasbro version of MP-10 and do you have any more pictures of it please?

so they're 'in office.. not factory' that line tells me that it would be a KO from their factory.

what other factory would be producing these??

Factory could also mean warehouse, or any number of other things. Or it could have been an outright lie.

I doubt that these are KOs as many of those figure haven't been KO'd or we'd have heard about it before now.

Question I sent to the seller earlier today regarding the MakeToys Fallen figure:

Dear ni_jay1988,

Is this an official MakeToys item as shown in e picture, brand new, sealed in the box? Is it a KO?

And the reply I just received:

Dear Trent,

yes KO with box
thanks

So there you go.

Interesting. Rumours of a KO Giant have been circulating since last year but I think most people had written them off as just that after so long with no news.

Even more suss is that last week this seller had hundreds of items for sale and now he shows as having no items.
Concerning for anyone that took a punt on his stuff

Yeah the guy continuously had good feedback increasing during the period of Transformers listings (when the listings were active his feedback score was 80 and now its 86). One of them was a giant plush teddy bear (my girlfriend was eyeing it!) that sold on a Friday, and then positive feedback was given the next day.

Just checked, here is another super suss feedback. 'Positive' feedback was given 30mins after the listing ended. Either these 'buyers' are really trusting or Chinese posties are that good.

Always pay with paypal, their consumer protection is pretty decent lately from all my refund cases. Don't ever pay their credit card processor, as you have less recourse.

Hi, i'm new here...
I just won several figures from ni_jay1988, i know that he's very suspicious mostly because he don't have and can't provide real pics on his listings and the worst is his english is so bad, he can't understand what my questions are. I searched through the web and find out that only otca discussed about him.
Okay, so i paid the first item and waiting for him to give me tracking no. and after he sent me the no. I have spent 3 days trying to trace the shipping status but the website always says not found, i'm totally f*cked.
