The actual Jetfire looks fine though. But that is unacceptable to try and evade the fees by doing so.

Just a question:
When you pay shipping do they get the money or is it eBay getting it? I think it's the actual person but I'm not exactly an expert.:D

I'm pretty sure the seller gets the money but ebay doesn't take their 7% cut or whatever it is on the final price of the item..

Ebay gets a percentage of the sale price, before shipping.
Which is why people are tempted to post up items for a dollar (or something similar), with huge shipping fees... to get around paying much in fees.

Can the shipping fee be put through a claim in paypal now days? I've not used it in a while so not sure.

I haven't had to do a claim/dispute (thankfully) for a while, but the last time I had to ask for a refund, I got the full amount of what I paid -- including shipping.

Yes, just got a claim back last week and I received the original shipping price as part of the refund.
Still ended up in the hole by $25  Due to sending the item back after being totally scammed.

Just a warning for those who buy from seller Transformerland on ebay. I just got a G1 Fizzle from them which pretty much disintergrated as soon as I touched him. The item was as pictured but they obviously had not tested it before putting it up for sale as I think the reason he broke so easy (and yes I was being very careful) was that he had not been transformed in a few decades. I'm sure the seller probably has tons of great toys that are fine, but they obviously do not check them out first.

Sent the seller a note about this - still awaiting a reply.

He'll likely (and hopefully) give you a refund, but he can be a bit slow at times responding to emails as I understand its only a part time thing for him.

Huffer wasn't done in the better known Brazil and Argentina assortments of recolours (http://www.toyarchive.com/Transformers/Brazilian/MiniCars.html), so this is something new to me... and now I want to know if there were more unique ones done in Peru. (I couldn't find anything on TFWiki)

I told him as the figure was so cheap I would just keep him and hang onto him in robot mode, so he is refunding half the purchase price (a whole $3) which I am happy with. Glad I messaged him rather than just leaving negative feedback. However I would be worried about ordering from him again if he does not check the toys before he sells them. But at least he seemed decent about the whole thing.

Thanks for that. Being a veteran of the franchise, I get so excited finding out something new, that is so old.
I don't think he mentioned when the article was written, as he noted about how amazing it is for something from the early years to remain unknown for so long... but according to the source info on the page, it says it was last updated in 2006, so was maybe written at that time.
Written over 6 years ago, and it is still fairly unknown in the fandom that those toys ever existed.

After recently starting to collect South American Transformers, I'm almost tempted to bid on this one... but fear it will go a lot higher.

Did that get KO'ed?
There seems to be quite a few recently sold ones, and most for around US$30... which seems way too cheap for a vintage "limited release" Cyclonus. Those things used to go for a lot of money, because of how rare the blue eared version was.
It would make for an interesting variance in a Gen1 collection, but I'd have to see if Cyclonus (or this blue version at least) was KO'ed first.

I actually bought one for around that just before i posted the link (i couldn't not buy it) so i'll let you know when it gets here. The KO is absolute rubbish quality and has Hasbro spelt wrong (in the all purple version anyway) (and from the one i bought and had to return a while back)

They're pitting buyers of different figure against each other to aggregate demand.

It's the Japanese soundtrack to the series (not the movie):

http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Original_Soundtrack:_Music_Book

I picked one up a couple of years ago. The cover art is magnificent and it comes with a booklet containing the tech spec bios of the G1 characters (I guess, I can't read Japanese Kanji :o). The music is .... Interesting, with some catchy tunes, but again, I don't understand Japanese so I didn't know what they were singing about (I guess it was transformers though!). One thing that is different with records sold in Japan was the presence of a band of paper containing info about the record which is often missing/damaged.

I have a few music related TF merch items, but this the prize, it's just too cool!

It's a fake, the smoke stake gives it away, takara did not release MP Optimus Prime with shorten smoke stacks. Also the energon axe is incorrect, it should be translucent orange, and it should be shiny chrome gold, not that dull gold looking plastic color.

The price seems quite competitive compared to other places that still have stock. (I realise it's ebay and anything's possible :))

i actually buy alot of things from ebay , so you just have to check their feedback on to what product that people bought of them before , people that have actually have high stars And from that link i check he been selling alot of transformer stuff with good feedback... so if you like the price then it ok ... Plus you got the buyer protection from paypal anyways . The shop that have high feedback because people only buy like $1 stuff you have to be worried about.

Too my personal experience buying form a ebay shop like that you actually get a brand new item where as you buying from a person that only have one or two item and say it brand new MISB usually isn't

Hmm... It looks just like the Super Collection Figure (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Soundwave_(G1)/toys#Super_Collection_Figure) but simply missing the clear/transparent plastic tape-door , the listing says it's 7-8cm tall too which is exactly how tall my own SCF Soundwave is. :o

It should go for less cause the seller ships throughout australia only. I know MISB usually go for 100-130 on average, I would avoid paying more than that.

A set of five kitchen appliances that transform into robots. The robot modes look pretty good, but if they didn't have such bright colours, and goofy alternate faces, these could be stand-ins for the bots that Sam created at the start of the second TFs movie.
The set of five includes a Fridge, Washing Machine, TV, Rice Cooker, and Vacuum Cleaner.

I love the G2 Power Masters. I don't know if anyone's ever documented Staxx as a gold plastic syndrome problem - I used to have a loose one, but traded it with Griffin at Oz Toy Con in 2006, so I just have a carded one now. This is the seller I got my Powerdive from.

I speculate that they are selling a combination of legit products and KOs. As far as a I know there are no documented cases of KO Powerdives, Hot Spots, Banzaitron etc. But the movie stuff I would stay far away from - I know there are H.A. Barricade KO's etc. My Powerdive seemed legit. At least I couldn't tell the difference (in terms of quality and packaging) from a genuine Hasbro release.

Word of warning - do not purchase if you are a MISB collector. My box was sealed but a bit smashed up, no chance of damage to the toy though. It is sent with a layer of bubblewrap around the box then just a layer of paper with the address on it. Obviously this is how they keep the shipping costs so dang low.

but now I'm really worried about how legit his products are (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Transformers-Prime-Weaponizer-BUMBLEBEE-Action-Figure-Robots-in-Disguise-New-/261195676379?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item3cd079badb)?

A couple of year ago I purchased quite a few Classicsverse figures from similar sellers. Didn't get any really bad ones, although the out of box Classics G2 Green Tank Megatron felt like crap in my hands.

The real highlights were Classics Ratbat (Cybertron Noisemaze repaint) and Movie/Classics Crankcase (Cybertron Red Alert repaint). Both of which were out of box and of good quality, however it was really odd that Classics Ratbat came with the translucent rubber bands tied around it, and packaged in alt mode - to the best of my knowledge that figure was only ever sold as a 2 pack with Classics Springer (Cybertron Evac repaint), both in packaged in robot mode. There were also very minor errors on Ratbat, like his allegiance feature not working. It leads me to believe these figures were produced from legit Hasbro factories, however perhaps made from the parts of figures that failed QC in some way? Peaugh/Vangelus once boasted buying figures smuggled directly out of Chinese factories prior to official release.

Had a quick look around. The boxed set ( 800 released) was worth $265 for club members or $315 for non members, which equates to $316 and $375 (a few dollars cheaper than current listing) respectively in todays money. There were two bonus figures given out for people purchasing the set: Ramjet & Flamewar.

Ramjet is there, and Flamewar was the attendee exclusive. Even with the box and Ramjet, the 2005 set was the biggest 'shelfwarmer' a BotCon has ever produced and they only finally got rid of them recently at a huge discount. The seller's other 2005 items - here (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Transformers-Botcon-2005-Attendee-set-Ratchet-and-Flareup-100-complete-/321121056540?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item4ac44e771c&nma=true&si=ybxO7eDT7nN2xxdzLtcI9R%252FGAmE%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557) were a bargain, however.

Ratchet and Flamewar were just a normal 2-pack like Octopunch and Spinister last year - he was just the only toy everyone/anyone wanted from that BotCon. I think Ratchet's so desirable because he's a unique mould - that roof light Energon weapon only exists with that toy. Also, for four years it was the only Classicesque Ratchet toy available and limited to 500.

I guess if you don't have to pay any fees until it is sold, you can list things with ridiculous prices just for fun (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Air-Raid-Superion-100-Complete-1986-Vintage-Hasbro-G1-Transformers-/111069157541?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item19dc3cd8a5)... or to sit at a high price for months to have other buyers and sellers think that it is the going price, and then every seller lists it at that price.

Otherwise, it could just be non-fans hearing about how "rare" equals "expensive" when it comes to vintage toys (or they saw it on one of those toy-collector TV shows), and guess a price without doing some basic research.

What is the go with US shipping costs lately, is it just me or did they go through the roof recently ???

Postage prices did go up recently in America, so for the seller to be covered by Paypal/Ebay in a dispute, they have to use a certain type of postage... which is now about 50% more than before.
Sellers can still use a cheaper shipping method, but if you claim that it didn't arrive, the seller can't prove to ebay that it was sent.
It's a shame too, as most of the good stuff is in America, but now shipping makes it impossible to buy individual or small items.
Best thing is to find someone with several items you want, and get a shipping quote for the combined lot.... or have someone over there that you can trust to buy and forward items to you. (or go to a convention over there and just splurge :p )
The American sellers won't care too much if they don't get any foreign buyers from the high postage costs, as most don't bother (or want) opening it up to non-Americans to begin with.

the above is correct, but I'm getting a loose animated deluxe shipped over First Class Mail International (this seller is a trusting gentleman) and shipping is costing about the same amount as a pair of baseball cleats did 2 years ago. the cleats in their box woiuld have to be at least twice the size and weight of the deluxe. It's not worth anywhere near that, as it isn't "rare" for a Lucky Draw gold toy. They produced 100 of those, compared to 3-5 of regular Lucky Draw toys, which people try to sell for up to $5,000. This one is priced at half that, and is really only worth about $500-1000.

I want those two, but doubt I will win.

Looking at their completed listings, he's been selling off quite a few JP TFs... which must have been a pretty impressive collection for someone in Peru to collect.

They are doing well with some items, but not with others due to the location.
Big Powered sold for over $1,100 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/TRANSFORMERS-BIG-POWERED-G1-C-353-COMPLETE-WITH-BOX-NOTHING-BROKEN-SEE-PICS-/300901641594?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item460f22ad7a&nma=true&si=FRfc12bM1ULduhE8cNXjQl2Agwc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557) - it's a lot of money, but very cheap for that 3-pack MIB.
A loose Artfire though, went for $810 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-TRANSFORMERS-ARTFIRE-C-108-G1-HEADMASTER-TAKARA-AS-PICTURED-/300894629518?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item460eb7ae8e&nma=true&si=FRfc12bM1ULduhE8cNXjQl2Agwc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557), which is still a fair bit for something that is really just redeco Inferno with a redeco Targetmaster gun.
