Brave Maximus was a definite buy for me as he was part of the show cast, How can you resist:D I do like some of the third party combiners but with limited funds going towards the MP line as well as starting to fill in my G1 gaps I can't justify spending any money on them:(

At it's height, ROTF Bruticus NIB was around $200 before postage. I got mine without its Energon stars for $160 before postage.

Generations Ultimate Battle gift set = $30-40 before postage.

Is the Jazz you're talking about the battle damaged one? As I recall it was the only one sold in robot mode to display the battle damage paint aps/slight retooling.

Are you looking to buy? Prices on eBay have quite a large price range fluctuation, I've seen it the full attendee set go for $250-400, whilst the bagged set go for $200-350. However, just checking eBay completed listings, and this (http://www.ebay.com.au/csc/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&LH_Complete=1&_nkw=botcon+stunticons&LH_PrefLoc=2) comes up.

Best time to buy is in another few months during Botcon when the market is flooded with new Botcon stuff. Some lesser experienced sellers usually put older Botcon figs for auction hoping to sell high -- most likely won't as there will be a wider range of goodies vying for limited monies.

Anyone have any idea of resissue prices? I have a few that I am looking at getting rid of if it's worth it. All complete, all have their boxes (although Prowl is missing one of the plastic inserts), they've been transformed and had stickers applied and then put right back in the box so I don't know how to classify them. Cheers for that mate! I got the preview wave off ebay so they worked out at $5 each. $6 may be a bit much (sounds so little but it's a price increase by 50% from in-store and there's 12 of them) so hopefully either I'll see them cheaper on ebay or one of these days get down to somewhere that has some decent shopping :)


Oh, and out of interest, looking at them on ebay, there is one guy charging &$5.78 per Kreon, and then $39 postage!!! Somehow I can't see a lot of people wanting to pay $45 for a $4 toy :rolleyes:

Ok guys..... I have an item that I think is somewhat special and chasing an evaluation. I'm not sure how much I should sell him for.

Now the way the story goes is I'm the 2nd owner of this item. The original owner found it in the back of a cupboard a few years ago. The tap has peeled away from one side and I was sold the item as MIB. The toy has never been played with but I reckon she would have transformed him at least once. I've never done it on this figure.

Ah, the 1991 Gold Box Prime. My favourite. Part of the classic reissues, although never identified on the box as such. Brand new, back in the day +/- $56, today, worth about $95-110 as a starting point, the slew of reissues dont help, depending on demand (eBay etc) you may get slightly more.

It's actually a really good, solid figure. :) I wish that they had painted the Super Robot's eyes blue too. It was notoriously over-produced however. I'm after the Final Fireguts version myself. :(

USA Starscream MP ~$120 (assuming its the Hasbro version and not the one stamped with a takara tomy logo on the box front) (Bought mine for $85 MIB)

MP-08 Grimlock ~$200-225 (Bought mine for $185 MIB)

MP-04 Optimus Prime ~$250 (Bought mine for $210 MIB)

MP-05 Megatron ~$200-250 (I paid $250 for one in a store last year brand new)

MP-09 Rodimus 2nd run ~$150-200 (Bought mine MIB for $120)

ROTF Megatron ~$100 (Bought mine MIB for $90)

The Bumblebee I assume is HFTD Battle Ops Bumblebee? ~$50 (I bought mine brand new for $35)

Energon Unicron ~$100 (This is the exact price I paid for one brand new this year)

MISB or loose? Those black boxes were very nice with their book styling. They were $38 brand new, IIRC, when they were originally released at Kmart a few years back. Give or take a few bucks each way & you'll be right.

I could only find one potentially legit MISB sludge on eBay. it's G1 and $980. I think that's a bit rich. Given that the Classics are a bit newer, I suppose $600 or $700 might be a reasonable asking price but I personally couldn't justify it.

so around $1400 for the pair. but that sort of valuation depends entirely on finding someone with the cash and inclination to burn. I also have no idea how rare something like that is now, probably quite rare.

Interesting opinion. I like them because they were the g1 around when i was a kid. I still see them as vintage g1 as they werent made for collectors (like the encores). And i like that they are affordable and i like how the prowl says "diaclone" on his bonnet sticker :D

Classics while old don't really go for a lot, people will have them for crazy prices on e-bay but they never sell, I would say MISB max for Sludge $350 and Silverbolt max $250 which is still a lot more than you paid :) There are Classics collectors out there of which I used to be one, had heaps MISB MOSC but have since moved them on as I have focused on original G1. They seem to do well in the US as they weren't released there, also if you happen to travel to Japan you might be able to off load them there at a good price.

I think there will be official reissues eventually if you are patient.

Anything that has an original 'red squares grid' G1 Box that claims to be a re-issue, is a knock off. These knock offs also may look nice from the outside but their quality is really bad.

An easy identifier is that Grimlock's box has a spelling mistake - Instead of "Dinobot Commander" he is labeled as "Dinobot Bommander".

We know TakTom was very pleased with how Encore Fort Max did, and we don't know what's coming up there, only that it's being said we'll get another big figure in the future. To what degree that is true, and who it'll end up being if true, is of course, another debate altogether.

But the two most bandied about are Scorponok or Trypticon. Rumour? Probably. We've been expecting Encore Scorponok for years thanks to that brochure from eons ago.

But it may be worth pondering, what if it is true? In that case, will I be sorry I just forked out for the original, or am I happier with an original anyway?

The only G1 item I recall ever being reissued by hasbro/takara after a KO has hit the market is the constructicons, and judging by the quality of them it looked like they used the same molds as the KO's :D Keep hoping just dont hold your breath. :cool:

Don't forget that G1 Megatron is treated as a replica firearm and since you're in NSW, you'll require a permit to own such a piece. This applies to Masterpiece Megatron and the assorted Browning figures, etc. ;)

It really is luck of the draw as to whether you get a good one or not. i think more than likely if you get one it is bound to have at least one problem. Flawless ones are just so hard to come by. Hasbro ones have less issues but its colour scheme is nowhere near as good as the Takara version.

If I were to buy another takara version I wouldn't get a MISB one. I'd get one that has been opened so the seller can confirm any issues.

When I get mine they were $30 for a set shipped from eBay and that was the cheapest. RK are being a**holes and only doing the $10 per launcher if you bought the MP from them and refusing to sell them to you if you got the MP from someone else.

* An original G1 Sunstreaker, missing everything except for the outer part of 1 shoulder rocket. Chrome is dulled but mostly in tact (not many scratches).
* An original G1 Mirage. No accessories and broken at the waist. Pronounced chrome wear.
* An original (not reissue) G1 Megatron rifle. Excellent shiney chrome.

My wants are:
+ G1 Hosehead - must have Nebulan, seat/helmet and head guns, but doesn't have to have the main hand gun
+ G1 Siren - same condition as Hosehead
+ G1 Getaway - must have Nebulan. Don't care about the gun.
+ G1 Horri-Bull - must have Nebulan, don't care about weapons

So my question is, what would be a reasonable trade request/expectation? I know that these toys are incomplete and Mirage is broken, but they are original G1 toys based on moulds that we know that HasTak have lost and are likely to never be reissued in future. Would it be reasonable to do a "one for one" trade request? (Megatron's gun would be thrown in with the set or with Mirage if I had to separate the Autobots), or would it be more be better to offer all of these for one of the toys on my wants list?

Hmm around $160 is what I would be happy with, most on ebay seem to be priced $250 or above though. :eek: There was one on ebay Australia recently that sold for just over $100 - item number 141162052992 which was a steal and shows actual demand for him.

Cab - $100-$125 He also got a hasbro release, forget his name now.
Shuta and Minerva - get them complete as finding parts for them is difficult. Shuta around $180 while Minerva maybe $250-$350 depends on stickers and if she has any yellowing. I dont think repolabels have done stickers for her yet.

Somewhere between $440 and $480, as long as you photograph them well and highlight their completeness. You may have to wait a while before a buyer comes along due to the number of reissues.


If you can get a complete minerva thats mint for 350 thats a bargain

Personally its a terrible toy - prone to yellowing and easy sticker damage. The body can be found pretty easily (you still have to make an effort to look for it) in japan. Mine was $250 from here and the box came from japan for $50. Sadly it has a bit of a flap crease. :p

I nabbed a Takara G1 Shockwave off a local seller for $300 earlier this year. Box and foam were in pretty good shape and the figure is mint. I'd say $300-$400 is not a bad price range if the box and figure are in really good shape.

I went past a collectibles shop in melbourne and they had I think the Universe Special Edition Optimus Prime (comes in a black book style box with white art on it) and also the Megatron in the same edition. The guy wanted $90 for the Optimus. Is that reasonable or too much or not enough?

I was slightly confused because also in the same store, there was a differently packaged 'ultimate battle' 2-pack which seemed to contain the exact same Optimus Prime and a green painted Megatron, for only $60.

While I think the special black box looks pretty sweet, not sure if it is worth $30 more for what looks to be the same toy!

There was also a $40 classics Hot Rod I think, I've never had a Hot Rod figure so tempted to grab that unless again you guys think it's too much?

What kind of price would you pay for an encore 20/20a?

I agree with TheShape, Galvatron looks good, maybe I would quote a little higher - in the region of $175-$200, its got the additional stryo and card pieces, robot points attached, box flap is pretty straight, tape still sealed on one end. I would assume the electronics still work. It would be a nice addition to any collection.

I think I know that store. Way overpriced. I reckon $40 tops for the black box style Optimus. Even then, it's not a good figure. Ditto for Megs.

If the Classics Hot Rod is the first release, his demand was high before, but there have been a couple released since then. Not too bad for a first release, haggle him to $30 if you can. $30 seems like a right price for him these days.
