The colours are slightly different as well - one helicopter is mostly green while the other helicopter is mostly red.
Robot modes are very similar though, but the extra colouring can still be seen to tell the two apart.
Yeah... where is the Titan Wars news... or at least, the confirmation that it was just a red herring to get fans distracted.
And I'd rather have SDCC "boring" with little new News, than seeing Hasbro once again having little revealed at the "fans convention" just so they could get media coverage by the regular media at SDCC.
I think this year they struck an acceptable balance. They gave us a heap of new reveals at BotCon that included Wave 2 for 2016, while the SDCC presentation didn't include Wave 2, but did include other items that weren't revealed at BotCOn... just so they get some regular media coverage of something that isn't "old news".
(it is important for the major toy companies to get non-fan media exposure, and if Hasbro showed off everything at BotCon, their competitors will get all the non-fan media coverage instead, because it isn't News anymore... but in recent years, Hasbro was embracing it too much, at the expense of the fan convention, like the Combiner Wars announcement last year, which should have been enjoyed by the fans and fansites first)
It's necessary to understand the priority of Hasbro is to get certain size classes under a certain production price. Having the one basic design for hands and feet for the whole first year, might have made enough savings in their 2015 budget to give us an extra mould or different robot heads or body sculpting.
What is the cost of the 3rd party feet and hands? Add that to the cost of the Hasbro toy and there would have been other costs cut, like more mould reuse in the jets and vehicles that wouldn't have made sense (like Offroad and Blast Off).
Considering the hands and feet are such a minor part of the toy, with the main focus being on their ability to combine and play like a single solid toy, I think they work well enough... and are heaps better than the Energon combiner hands/feet.
Would you rather have the Alpha Bravo mould as the gold Slingshot? :p
There was still a lot to digest out of it all, and I think I had about 6 postings after Hursticons big post o' pics.
Now to go back and look at the RID presentation and the Hasbro exhibit display... as I stayed up for the Generations presentation. :o
