Metroplex and Devastator were actually quite reasonably priced here. Metroplex ended up going really cheap at Target. Fortress Maximus was ridiculously expensive when it first came out in stores like Myer and it continues to shelfwarm there as well as TRU, but other stores like Big W released it at a much cheaper price and it managed to sell better there. PC's price was even cheaper than Big W's, although the toy did come out later from them (no surprise there). So there's a fair chance that Trypticon and other future Titan Class figures may come out here at decent prices. :)
I personally paid...
* Metroplex = approx. $175 (purchased from overseas incl. shipping)
* Fortress Maximus = $160
* Devastator = $198
I wouldn't even pay $300 for a Titan Class let alone $350! :eek:
======================
Edit: Just checked my records - I paid US$115 for Metroplex, so including shipping it was around AU$175
Trypticon's size is even more poorly defined than Godzilla's sometimes he's huge other times he's only twice Grimlocks size. And we know the the big one in the G1 toon is shorter than the Eifel Tower, so he's well under a mile.:p

The reason I say that is because the prices have been creeping up over the years on these big releases. Metroplex was released over here for $120 when it first showed up at Target. That was AWESOME. But Devastator was significantly more expensive at $198, and then Fort Max when first released was $250. That's getting into the realms of no longer being justifiable, when the choice isn't one toy or several toys but one toy or a video games console. And I can see Trypticon being even more expensive barring some sort of economic miracle.
other than the stubby tail, he looks good. I honestly have no space for it so I might have to pass just like what I did for Fortress Max. I like to see how are the alt modes like.
At least this looks way better then the Hasbro Fort Max.
It is a really nicely detailed Trypticon. Hopefully he will be stable.
$300 is still way WAY outside my wallet's pain threshold. The most I've ever paid for a single Transformer (with my own money) was $195 for MP11 Starscream, which included shipping. I'm usually reluctant to spend more than $100 for a single Transformer. $100-$150 would be pushing it, and it would have to be of a character I really wanted and/or be really cool.
3-4 years ago, I was blessed enough to find Generations Metroplex at Costco for $109. Until I saw the price tag, I never imagined I'd own that Metroplex.
Hopefully future Titan Class figures will be reasonably priced. That, or the retail stores could do what they did with the first 2-3 waves of Titans Return and release them during a big sale.
It will be Fort Max pricing. If you want dirt cheap then buy PC but don't scream long wait. Those good old days you need to rely on a clearance sale if they decide to do it. I am glad I am not fussed about this guy buy I do admit he looks a lot more promising than Fort Max.
IIRC, it was also limited stock.
$160-200 would be fair range after-sales and low end of retail for Trypticon. Really depends on whether it is as hollow as Metroplex, and considering that none of the other Titan Class figs has been re-released at the retail level. Not valuing the top end of the range more than Devastator because between the two, Devastator will likely have more parts (assuming there isn't a huge difference in difficult when moulding big or small pieces of plastic) and require a lengthier assembly time.
Also don't mind if they separate the figure into 2/3/4 parts to save on carton form/void during shipping.
The short tail also makes sense for shelf/wall storage. Sure the tail could move laterally but it is pretty obably easier to leave that out than accomodate it in the transformation. If a shorter tail makes him closer to Metroplex height, then bring it!
I just wanna put a saddle on the big guy and gallop around the house giggling with plastic-fueled glee!
Which is actually a really good price as it was actually cheaper than the US RRP! :eek: How often does that ever happen?
I preordered from Amazon USA and paid US$115, and with postage it worked out to be about AU$175 because I thought for sure that this toy would be sold here for well above US RRP which is what usually happens with Transformers here. But much to my surprise and delight of local fans who hadn't ordered online, the toy worked out to be really well priced here. Sure, Target's introductory price was fantastic, but even the standard price was still really good for this toy. :) TR Fort Max's AU RRP was just stupidly expensive though.
The most I've ever paid for a single Transformer was $300, but that was literally for:
* G1 Fortress Maximus
* Brave Maximus (incl. shipping)
* Encore Fortress Maximus (incl. shipping)
The second most expensive purchase I've ever made was $219 for reissue Trypticon.
I don't think it was especially limited. Larger and more expensive toys are always produced in smaller numbers and thus will always be more limited than smaller and cheaper toys. That's always been the case. But I do remember seeing Metroplex sitting on shelves for quite some time after Target's introductory sale price ended and it shelfwarmed at dearer retailers like Myer.
yeah I found Metroplex at Chadstone Myer that year, stuck him on lay-by around Christmas time
Do we have an indication of release beyond "this year"? He looks perfect. With the rumoured Dinobots from somewhere, full call of the primitives over here.
I was referring to the stock being limited during the introductory price. However, this could have just been the stock levels at the Target I picked mine up at (Rhodes). I made a mad rush there on a Thurs night as soon as the intro price was announced/sighted.
I skipped the several sales for Fortress Maximus thinking that he may end up in Costco at a dirt cheap price 2-3 months after release. Oh well, one less massive robot to worry about :)
Brunt(?) is looking deluxe size in the images here https://www.seibertron.com/energonpu...9.php#p1859009 Personally dont think he is one, but he could be a headmaster.
Looks great but... I just bought the platinum version (70 bucks from TRU :D). Can't justify 2 of 'em.

I'm so happy for the darker shade :)
Definitely not a small stumpy tail then!
I think I read somewhere that he has a gimmick that allows him to swallow the headmasters :eek:
Yeah size always fluctuated between episodes. For instance I once saw Sky Lynx's bird mode alone could carry Superion but when fighting on the moon Sky Lynx combined mode looked tiny compared to Tryptocon. Also saw Trypticon pick up and dangle a huge long bullet train with once claw that Defensor couldn't even hold the first car of so in those instances he was gigantic.
It's even been the same in IDW. In Stormbringer he wasn't much bigger than Omega Supreme but in Autocracy he's as big as Metroplex. Yet in Dark Cybertron a flashback showed Omega being about the size of Metros head so who knows how big Trpticon really is :rolleyes:
Up for preorder at PC

Perfection. Who designed him?
Full Tilt transforms and had a headmaster. I'm cool with that. He looks pretty good actually
Same thing as with Metroplex...it looks impressive, but I prefer the G1 version.
And Full Tilt's head is Wipeout from the comics. That's pretty sweet.
Overall this Titan is looking incredibly impressive. I was lukewarm on Fort Max, but will be getting this.
It's a shame that this one seems to share the G1 versions greatest flaw: a giant dinosaur head hanging off the back of the alt modes.
I don't know the comics, but that's awesome. And I'm cool with head being hanging off the back. He'll be in dino mode somewhere he can fit on my shelves anyway
