Yeah im seeing that as well.
Nothing is ever easy...
I now have access to the file directories (both through their web portal and an ftp program), but when they uploaded the board software, they set up the board's folder with permissions that prevent me (the owner) from adding, over-writing or renaming files on my own directory... and I'm the only user listed with access to my account. So even though I was able to copy the config file to my computer and edit it, I can't put it back.... or anything in the board's folders, including customised image files.
Back to emailing the server host...
Typical.
I'm liking the new board layout now that I've had a chance to look at it properly and that bug business down the bottom of the page is gone.
It is good. Needs some colour and customisation though.
It does need some colour, and since I couldn't get any of our custom images working I did up a quick test colour scheme, which is "test 1" on the drop-down menu on the bottom left of every page. It looks like if you select it once, it stays like that until you select something else, even when you come back later.
It isn't anything fancy, and won't be permanent (I can't even set it as the default colour scheme), but for those who are getting sore eyes looking at all of the white, check it out, until the more permanent scheme is done.

icons down from where they are and perhaps run them across the bottom like the New Posts PM's etc? I think they tend to get lost where they are now.
Trying Test 1 - bit of an Optimus Prime feel.
The mobile option looks like it might be what some others have been wanting too.
Trying Test 1. The bright pink is not good for the eyes.
Welcome back, great that we didn't lose more than a week.
Not a fan of Test 1, too intense.
That was one of the three layout customisations of the old board that the new software didn't like, so I have to figure out all over again how to move those things around. I just wanted to get our banner up there as a priority so that guests and members knew for sure that we were back... and then try to fix up the mess it caused later.
It was a 5 minute rush job, that was trying to get a bit of red and dark blue, as a good vs evil type of mix... to see how it looked, but I did notice that the lighter shades ended up being a bit pink and light blue.
There are soooo many visual elements on here that have their own colour settings... it could take days to fine tune something decent.
I will try to spend some time over the weekend on it. I was originally thinking of having several visual options for members, like a good/autobot theme and an evil/decepticon theme, or maybe a beast theme... but after thinking about how long it would take to do just one colour scheme, I realised that fansites have signature colours, so if we want members and guests to recognise our site by sight, I think we need to focus on one colour scheme (and try to bring back the background grid pattern image).
Test1 is better. But still not great. I think we need something more distinctly not American (red white and blue). I?d actually like a dark theme but not fussed.
Great job Griffin getting the site back up! It will take time to optimise it but at least we have a site again.
I mostly use the site on a phone and am finding it harder to use given the logo at the top of the page goes wider than the rest of the front page, making the text really small. If you can look into how to resize the logo to fit the page that would be much appreciated please. :)
Previously we spent a horrible amount of time offline. Now it proved to be less than a week. Things are obviously improving so fingers crossed this will be the last of these shutdowns.
I've altered something I've wanted to do for a while - user rankings.
Originally, I had the staff taking up three spots so that I had all 10 numbers used up, but that meant people who were active (dedicated) and significantly active (deluxe), had a fairly low ranking, which wouldn't get any higher than 6 for most people. This way I think it looks more rewarding for those who contribute here, even if they don't become staff.
(the staff are now all in one ranking, as global moderators, as there used to be issues with not being able to moderate other areas properly, when they were the only ones online at the time)
The Userguide has been updated to reflect the new ranking structure.
Looks like it’s stopped.
