ain't I a stinkah :D
hey guys...
i'm moving house this weekend and my wife and i just got back from cleaning the kitchen, bathroom, toilet and built in robes at the new place.
now is it just me...
or is it a million times worse cleaning someone else's filth as opposed to your own?
ergh.... i'm so grossed out right now
janda :)
Why is your new place so dirty??!? (o_O)
Nowadays rental property has becomes such a premium with huge amount of demand that exceed supply. So Real Estates no longer bother to clean them before putting them out on the market since there will most likely be a huge line of dozens of people willing to pay more than what is being offered.
When I moved to my current unit, the kitchen was pretty dirty so I cleaned it all up. It was worth it since I had doubled my living space for very little more money and overall I am in a better building. Except for the stupid mouse, my place is pretty clean and tidy with lots of space with a dedicated collection room.
I thought if the place was dirty then the real estate agent would pay for professional cleaners then deduct that out of the previous tenant's bond before refunding whatever was remaining.
This unfortunately seems to happen too often.
The Real Estate will always be keen to get you in order to claim your bond but there is no guarantee that they will actually use the money to make the repair/cleaning that it was supposed to have been taken for.
They can get away with it because the former tenant has no way of verifying if the money taken is actually for the claimed reason.
That's an interesting point there Kup, Surely, as the bond has to be signed OK to use by both Tenant and Real estate agent, I would expect to see some receipts for the money they use.
I got an inspection letter that had the usual stuff on it and a bit stating that if the gardens weren't in a stisfactory condition that the real estate could call in their own gardners and charge the tenant.
After reading that, I thought could the tenant dispute the costs, as they are paying for it and did not apporve it. Mosts leases state that if a maintenace call is made and it is not really broken (eg idiot can't work air-con, so assumes it broken, but was just outside plug off), the tenant will be charged for workmans fees. Should work both ways, know what I mean.
i dont know......lol ;)
i guess "clean" is one of those objective things, what i consider clean.....is obviously not what the previous tenant thought clean was.
i think kup was saying about real estate agents keeping part of your bond for maintenance/gardening.....never happened to me, but we always make sure we leave a property in immaculate condition. i wish others did the same!
i suppose if this is all i've got to b!tch about......life's pretty good...lol
janda :)
OMG... just realised I have an exam already on the third week of semester for Wills worth 20%, on a Sunday... **** this is crazy!!!!
I once had a tutorial on a Saturday. That was in Japan though (where having classes on Saturdays isn't unusual). The course wasn't essential for me though, so I dropped it pretty soon. ;p
Headrobots have decided to screw customers over by making their 'Gyro' upgrade for ROTF Whirl a $35US resin kit limited to 100 pieces which consists of the head, 4 guns and 2 wings.
I was going to bite the bullet and buy it anyway but going through checkout, shipping to Australia is $35US - screw that.
I was very excited about the whirl & bludgeon upgrade set they intended to do and purchased to the 2 pack for that reason and now they're being complete bitches.

Megatoyfan.com: Gyro Garage Kit
In order to get Gyro out to fans we made the difficult decision to make it available as a very limited run resin kit. The final kit will be bubble free and casted in color with artwork and will be severely limited at 100 pieces since every piece will have to be produced by hand. The price is $35 for a new head, 4 guns, and 2 wings. The below site will be the only place to get it from and because of the time involved in producing these we would rather spend time on new designs than producing these kits.

well that makes no sense. did they take a poll that i'm not aware of? if anything the demand for 3rd party products has exploded recently - shadow scythe shows people are willing to pay $300 or more for it and distributors (tfsource) are willing to gouge customers to increase their profit margins.
in fact, i passed on the universe springer vs ratbat 2 pack and now only want it because i have teabat which was made to compliment it.
i was more interested in the blood/gyro upgrade set over the voyager blood upgrade and as it stands, i'm not even going to buy the voyager upgrade.
so im just going to buy the PE Scouting Force X instead and Headrobots can go suck it.
We are talking about this particular upgrade not the whole 3rd party explosion.
Unfortunately the 'Bludgeon vs Whirl' pack wasn't very popular and shelf warmed and on top of that there was a fair bit of 'What's the point of this?' reactions from fans when this upgrade was announced which would have made Headrobots a bit apprehensive at mass producing the kit. The announcement of an upgrade head for the more popular Voyager Bludgeon would have also cemented the end of this vs pack kit.
I understand your disappointment at this kit being demoted to a limited release - I know I would but I can't say that I am surprised.
true, but i remember a lot of people were upset when the voyager bludgeon upgrade was announced and asked what happened to the deluxe version.
HR said they had not cancelled it, but now it feels like they'll do the same and produce it as a limited run and concentrate on their voyager release.
honestly though, maybe they should have taken preorders and if there was enough interest to go ahead, take on a small deposit fee.
they make me feel like they shouldn't have released promo pics and instead it could have just been a unique custom project to be admired.
I was going to trade one of the first movie Transformers DS games in at JB later this week to get the new Pokemon game. I checked their list of exclusions earlier today and it wasn't listed so I thought great. Come home tonight and double check and now both of them are listed so I don't have any other DS title to trade in in it's place. :(
yeah that sucks, reminds me i bought a x360 game - bionicle heroes second hand from someone for $10 intending to trade it at jbhifi for one of those 3for1 deals. but at the time there weren't any good games so i held onto it for a while and when a good game came out they placed it on the exclusion list. so i've had this game sitting away and decided to trade it away at Game last month and they gave me $74 for it O_O
It mostly bugs me that the list of excluded games could change within a few hours. Maybe I'll trade in the ROTF Con DS game. I got that very cheap but have yet to even unwrap the plastic from it. Probably won't miss it.
Friggin' Game Trailers.com wont let me view videos whilst I have an ad-blocker active - Argh!
Yesterday I get an SMS from another member telling me that RtS Solar Storm Grappel had been sighted at my local Target... of course, I don't work near home and I had an after school extension class to teach... so by time I got back to my suburb Target had closed. Later another member who lives in my area told me that he'd been to that Target already and all the Grappels were gone!
Fortunately for me earlier this week I'd already given up on finding Grappel and ordered a United Grapple from HLJ which surprisingly shipped a few days ago... so it's in transit. But geez... I sure hope this wasn't the work of scalpers... (-_-)
It took almost 2 bloody days to get the Internet back after the bloody storms we copped down here, of course, I have to be connected to the same 1950's exchange that the TAFE campus is connected to.
Of which just so happens to be the campus that hosts/administrates/maintains the largest network in the Southern Hemisphere - Every State Primary, Secondary and TAFE school south of (and including) Helensburgh, down to the Victorian border and west to Griffith!
Then, my parents PC decided to literally conk out, so I've spent the last 2-3 days building that from the ground up - Which I actually like doing, but I wish I was getting paid to do it!
I would like to know what brand of modems you guys are using for your internet connections and how good are they? And how much did they cost you?
I have a Netgear DM111P and it is HORRIBLE, it drops out every couple of hours. Do not recommend.
I've been experiencing about 20 dropouts within the last 48 hours.
At first I thought it was a line problem with Bigpond and after calling them they had assured me that the connection was fine and suggested that I should buy new Telstra phone splitters of the same brand with ADSL 2+ support because they think that is why the connection is dropping out.
I go to a Telstra shop, they don't sell it. So I go to a Dick Smith, a store in which Bigpond themselves recommended. The so called 'expert' behind the counter tells me that the Telstra brand splitters are crap and should get other brands other than theirs so I do, I get 2 D-link splitters and guess what happens after I plug those in? I experience about a dozen dropouts - meaning that it's this piece of crap modem that's causing these dropouts (and my warranty, not surprisingly does not allow refunds only a replacement of the exact same dud modem). And guess who sold me my modem after Telstra wouldn't replace mine because I was no longer entitled? DICK SMITH.
Another Dick Smith experience, I go in there in hoping of buying cheap video games on a Sunday. THere's 8 workers in on a sunday and I grab a copy of Age of Empires 3 and Warhammer Dawn of War. The seal on the Age of Empires 3 game has been ripped open so I go to the counter asking the girl what has happened with the discs and she says they've been stolen. STOLEN. When you have 8 people working on a Sunday at Dick Smiths how can you not see someone tearing up a game and taking out the discs? Oh maybe because they're trying to tend to the 20 customers that all looked pissed-off that they've been sold by products by a bunch of airheads. So the girl apologises and goes into the back to get the discs for Dawn of War - and guess what? She's gone for about 15 minutes to which I said to my friend - 'F*CK THIS. F*CK DICK SMITH. THEY ARE WORSE THAN A DOG'S PILE OF SH*T' and leave.
I'm usually forgiving when it comes to retail shops but this is it - Dick Smith can rot. I'm going JB Hi-Fi. And f*ck Netgear too for making crap modems. And f*ck Bigpond too, after my contract is over with them I'm going Adam.
As horrible as that sounds, I use a netgear modem/router and a hooked up through TPG on a Telstra line. I had a bunch of issues but it turned out to be crappy old wiring in the place we're renting.I put down some fresh cable, which is pretty cheap for 10 metres from anywhere and 've not had a problem since. if you can stomach it I suggest talking to bigpond again and getting them to test your lines. also try your connection without the phone or any splitters attached, see how that goes. add one thing to the circuit at a time and see what effect it has.
best of luck.
Guess what, Bigpond called me at 9AM this morning and they said all the dropouts were actually on their end - I told them about 50 times to change my ADSL associated number (as my home phone number had changed recently) and despite telling them so many times ; they never got around to it. The dud that calls me tells me he'll put me through to a Bigpond Consultant, after 16 minutes of waiting - he comes back and instead of putting me through to the consultant, he disconnects the line...
Wow, it's like they want their customers to hate them and they're not even trying anymore.
I know, after the 50th time you'd think they'd learn but...
Well it's up and running, and beautifully I might add :p, I've also managed to retrieve about 90% of their documents and other misc data as well as all the email! :D
Actually, I use that exact modem - albeit v2 in combination with a Netgear N600 model WNDR3700 router and it works like a charm. :o
We get dropouts too, no where as often though but I know why we get them and it is purely due to Telstra's Archaic Copper Phone Lines in my area - Which just so happen to be the original lines laid way back in the 50s-60s.
We also have a TAFE hooked up to our exchange, which I rant over in detail above, and when it rains?...
Also, I wouldn't take the word of a Telstra 'Technical Support' staff member or a Dicksmith employee even if you paid me and why?:
Telstra don't care, wont care, know nothing and only want your money. (In my experience)
Dicksmith is a Woolworths owned shell with Sales Drones they call 'Techsperts', oh they spurt something but it isn't accurate information. ;) (In my experience)
Ha! :)
I've the exact same setup dude - Netgear everything, Internet provided by TPG on Telstra lines and I agree, 90% of most dropout problems are with the poorly serviced and non-maintained lines of Telstra. ;)
What you say is dead right, use the process of elimination method as that's the best approach.
Why am I not surprised?...
I'd say man, get away from Telstra and Bigpond as soon as you can as you'll save buckets of cash and headaches, but also I generally find that most splitters are exactly the same so stick with what you had and get the new ones refunded. ;)
Telstra tied? :confused::p
If you do your research, have a proper understanding and are confident in what you're about to do? -
Building your own computer saves you a mass amount of money and you can tailor it to your specific needs. :D:cool:
If something goes wrong though you've only your self to blame and warranty might only be offered on specific parts as opposed to the entire computer.
I've been building my own PCs since I was 12, so I've got a bit of experience but trust me - You can never do enough research, if in doubt? seek out an experienced friend or family member. ;)
P.S. - Indeed, Tandy and Dick Smith are now the same shell cast from an evil overmind. :p
It is sad, but at least you got it now.
Ah man, don't be sad ;) - It's an introduced pest that spreads disease and aids in the extinction of native species!
I'm glad you caught him dude, but keep you're eye out though as where there is one there is often another. ;)
I too caught a mouse on the weekend! :D
Due to the recent heavy rains and flooding that occurred in my area last week, a mouse had decided to take up residence in my house, so, with a method that I had developed with my last war against mice (Yes mice not mouse ), I superglued a piece of Dog food to the trap on Saturday and by Monday morning I had caught the little bastard!
Though, I didn't so much as catch it...
As the piece of dog food reduced the amount of space for the mouse's head to be when the arm came down, it ended up smashing it's face and allowing it to crawl off and die behind the freezer! :p:D
