That is a photoshop pic according to the post.

Ironhide's proportions varied throughout the G1 cartoon (which is hardly renowned for its consistency :p). But overall, I think that MP Ironhide's proportions are pretty close to the average proportion of G1 cartoon Ironhide. In the diagram below I've used yellow lines to indicate the width of the shoulders in proportion to the hips, the blue lines indicate how much of his chest protrudes from the shoulder/hip line, and the green line is the nipple line (i.e. where the nipples would be if Ironhide were a human male).

I've deliberately disregarded the vehicle hip kibble, cos here's the thing... G1 cartoon Ironhide carries zero vehicle kibble in robot mode aside from the front section of the vehicle. Everything else magically disappears into thin air when he transforms. The toy cannot do this. Try as it may, it simply cannot defy the laws of reality. So there are going to invariably be compromises made; i.e. the toy designers have to put all those vehicle parts somewhere in robot mode! So yeah, there's going to be some shellforming. Let's compare this with previous incarnations...
- G1 Ironhide Carries all four wheels on the arms and legs and parts of the rear bumper form the toes. Part of the lower panels form his thunder-thighs. The rest of the vehicle becomes his battle platform. (I'm not going to criticise this toy for not looking like the show since it was created long before the cartoon was)
- G2 Gobot Ironhide Uuhhh...
- G2 Power Master Ironhide About as incredibly crap as all the other G2 Power Masters... also looks nothing like Ironhide
- Beast Wars Ironhide Again, no real resemblance to the original (other than the red homage; and this toy was later retconned as being the same character as G1 Ironhide anyway)
- Timelines Ironhide Opportunistically redecoed from Energon Tow-Line, about 70% of the vehicle becomes the battle platform. Also does not attempt to accurately mimic G1 Ironhide (other than the new head; any other resemblance is coincidental)
- Universe/Henkei Ironhide A pretty good effort for a Deluxe figure. Vehicle suffers from having panel lines everywhere because this toy absorbs the entire vehicle mode into the robot (there's no detachable platform)! Also, the vehicle mode is an SUV and not a van. But all things considered, this is still a pretty remarkable toy. :)
- MP Ironhide IMO this is a pretty darn good effort in attempting to make a show-accurate G1 Ironhide. The most accurate toy we've had to date. And remember that the transformation is meant to be intuitive and fun. Nobody likes an MP Megatron or BT Wheeljack/Grimlock level of transformation that's more frustrating than fun, and you're more likely to just transform it a few times and relegate it as a display piece. :(
TakaraTOMY toy designers engineers. Not gods. ;)
Thing is, if you want the bot mode of Ironhide to look like the one on the right, then you'll likely end up with an alt mode that looks something like this:

And that's just a bit too off, as he ends up looking like a Winnebago rather than a van.
Ha ha! Every time I look at this pic, it reminds me of Eddie Murphy from Trading Places:

Here's the scene in case you don't know what the hell i'm on about!:

For the coin collectors coin design has been out

It'd be cool if the flipside of that coin had a toy-accurate head. Then you could heads or heads. :p
There's always going to be something to complain about, but the good certainly outweighs the bad. My two cents... face/head looks a bit thin, I guess
More pics are coming in (via DaimChoc).
One of the more interesting ones from the gallery:

Saw this linked on facebook they've really gone all out on this guy

there's almost too much information there. I'm just waiting for him to turn up. :D
I think the vehicle mode looks perfect and I'm overall very impressed with what I've seen of the bot mode so far. I love that there are so many features of the robot, allowing for many scenes from the show to be re-enacted.
Unpainted plastic is a bummer. But im loving the amount of accessories they've given him. Good articulation + plenty of accessories. That should be part of the MP formula imo.
Also this is hilarious as was the trading places reference megatroon mentioned...lol

No idea what you're on about but yeah articulation and accessories go hand in hand. Love showing off awesome poses using a variety of weapons and gear with my gundam models. TF's that can attain even half the level of articulation of a gundam model gets a big tick from me.
I'm the exact opposite. I'd rather they not bother with any accessories past the gun and put the budget into making the actual figure look as good as possible.
The accessories just get thrown in a draw for eternity anyway.
I only ask for painted and a nice gun for him, that all. Cannot be bothered with the rest.

That is just awesome! It's like a cross between gerwalk mode and the Gobots' Baron Von Joy:

Best Masterpiece EVER!!!!! :D
Huh, well if the hip kibble was designed to fold upwards, like in the above pics, that would have been much better, because it gives his lower torso a bit of chunk and his chest doesn't look as dangling out in front.

They're screwed on and not designed to rotate.
I personally don't mind the kibble but it's till nice to know there's options.
just a couple of days more before its release and some asian retail are starting to have them IN STOCK
Looks much better with the hip kibble flipped upward. Gives him an upper body that looks "fuller" IMO.
But with the modification can it still transform into vehicle mode or is it a matter of having to remove the hip kibble again?
Nice! He's seeker height:

^ Is Soundwave the best man? :p
I think Soundwave is the minister who is announcing:
"If anyone objects to this marriage, let them speak now or forever hold their peace..."
Then Tracks gatecrashes and declares his undying love for Thundercracker...
At least that's the script rumour I heard for TF5.
Some really nice HQ photos from Uranusdd (via DaimChoc).
Showed up in my PW at HLJ last night - now to resist having him shipped until my other orders come in :)
i just got my payment request from chimungmung :)
The RK newsletter says available now... website says shipping on the 30th... When are PC shipping?
We've got a review now!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0mwEh0MVrs
How are these reviewers getting their toys? Do TakaraTOMY send out exclusive early samples to them (similar to how film reviewers get to attend special early screenings)?
...and how can I get this job? :p
